I think it would be between 4-5 pounds. Jaden is 4 pounds and I love his size. He's not so small that I'm worried if he jumps off of step or something but he's not too big that I can't take him everywhere with me. I can hold him in one hand and he's light enough that I don't get tired carrying him all the time.

I think the "ideal" yorkie would be in the breeds standards, 7 pounds and under and personally I like the smaller ones in the 4-5 pound range.

Wow, it's looking like a perfect bell curve centered at 5 pounds. I guess that's about what I was suspecting. We love them in all shapes and sizes!

I chose 4 lbs. That is what my little guy weighs and he is the perfect size for us - exactly what we wanted

BUT - then again, I'd also love a 3 lb'er - I know that is EXTREMELY small to some - but I like the little guys

Although, I DO have a hard enough time as it is with Stedman being under my feet all the time

I am always afraid I am going to step on him...

I like the 4-6 pouind range. Tiny but not to tiny. Even thought the most beautiful yorkie I've ever seen was 10 pounds and had the most gorgeous coat and "babydoll" face I have ever seen! So to be honset, I'm more concerned with a great coat a face then size

I choose 7lbs. That is how much my little boy weighs and I couldn't imagine another yorkie being more perfect than him!

I couldnt choose.... my Tootie is 16 lbs, GIANT.... my Hopey is 4 1/2 lbs...
I love them both and for different reasons their sizes are the best! tootie is a rough-houser and I cannot imagine him being any smaller(his best wrestling buddy is my 95 lb lab) Hopey is SOOOO SPOILED, it would be hard if she were any bigger, I have to carry her everywhere I go.
I love them.... just the way they are!

I have four all with different weights. Newman is 12 lbs. Bella is nine pounds, Noel is (HUH) 16 pounds, and Tia is only 3 pounds. Having such a range I'd have to go with five pounds being ideal although I have to tell you I love Tia at three pounds because I can take her everywhere. I didn't go out of my way to get a little one this small but I am enjoying it

Alaska Yorkie! I appreciate this thread. It is great to hear from so many with "larger" yorkies. I love my solid pup and I am glad to know that I am not alone in loving the wonder of her, no matter her size. Now I want her to be as beautiful as Carley and Terra Boo!

I agree as well. This was a great thread. I was a little worried when i found out that my pup was going to be a larger yorkie, but now hearing others with big puppies. I am just looking forward to her growing up and us bonding more and having tons of fun for many years. She is just a doll baby no matter what size she is.

No problem! I love them in all sizes, but I'm definitely a large Yorkie fan. When we got Eddie, we knew nothing of the breed, and my wife was told by the previous owner that he would be 2-3 pounds. Ha. He's 9 pounds, and I couldn't be happier. Jack is 4 pounds and no less lovable, but he does require extra care, from getting up and down the couch and the bed to having to be dressed warmer in our cold weather.

But there is definitely no wrong answer to this poll. They are perfect in all sizes.

DooDah is 7 lbs and we like that weight. It seems what ever size your Yorkie is, is the size you like. I guess the important thing is that they are healthy at whatever weight.
