Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Missing your Yorkies -- a poll I always thought I was being a good Yorkie dad by not letting my boys stay home alone for more than 5 hours. But recently, I've realized that rule I have is selfish. I can't stand being away from them for more than 5 hours. I realized that this week when my wife stayed home from work and was watching them. After about 4 hours, I started feeling guilty and thinking "I wonder if she's going to walk them?" "Does she KNOW about the unleashed big lab at the corner of the park?!!!" I raced home and walked them anyway. Then I went home again later and brought them into work. How many hours can you go without your Yorkies?

| OMG. If my husband could see this thread. As most of you already know. I take Gus everywhere! If I have no choice but to leave him, I'm so stressed. I mean if it's to go out to dinner and a movie, We will have to come get him after dinner and take him to the movies. I did go to Vegas in March and it was so hard leaving him behind. I even posted my concerns here on YT and was even thinking of taking him. It was a hard decision, but I thought it would be best for him to stay home. My mother in law came to say with the kids and I knew he was in good hands but I couldn't help but worry. Was she over feeding him? Was she giving him something he's not supposed to eat? I feared that he was going to get out and look for me and someone was going to take him. Or he was going to get sick missing me. (We both have somewhat of a separation issue) Turns out he did miss me and just sat by the door waiting for me. And my mother in law only gave him what was on the list. And my Val did keep a close eye on him the whole time. I ended up having a very good time and but by day 3,,,, I was so ready to come home. So anyway, I voted 2 hours,,,,

| I miss my yorks all day at work. I have pictures up all over my workstation. Every month there is the ritual "new yorkie of the month" when I turn over the calendar each month. I voted 8 hours because that's how long I HAVE to be away from them but I start to stress about them home alone at about 3pm. I don't go out on weekday evenings unless I can take them with me. I feel bad having to work so much and leave them alone all the time. I think that's why I do so much training with them. So what time I spend with them is quality time.

| I voted for 4 hours because that's how long I have to leave her alone when I'm at work. I really HATE to leave her a alone and leaving for work is always breaking my heart I really don't want to participate in any activities that won't allow me to bring her along... My boyfriend thinks I'm nuts but I just can't change |

| I voted 4 hours because that is the longest I'm away one day a week for my yoga & pilates class schedule. I used to run errands afterwards, but not anymore. I can't wait to get back home to her and play for a while. It's killing me right now during swim season that I'm only home for about an hour when I need to leave again for swim practice!!!

Lovin' 2 Girls Donating Member | <smile> Well, I work from home (web design), so my furfriends can pop in on me anytime. HOWEVER - when I MUST leave the house, even for a couple of hours.... I miss her! Is it because they're so underfoot all the time, we're more aware of their presence? I will show this thread to dh, because he misses her too, when we're out. ;-) He also has to check on her whereabouts everytime the door is opened! Poor Guy. "Where's Abigail?!", his constant concern.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali is the first dog I have had since no longer working. I am so attached to her that I hate leaving her. I take care of my elderly parents and usually I am gone no more than 2-3 hours at a time. I start getting worried any longer than that. Last week I had to take them for dr appt and tests an hours drive away so I was gone 6 hours. They were only alone a couple of hours at a time as my dtr came home between work and school and stayed with her for an hour then 2 hours later my husband came home, but I was so nervous. It was kind of strange because when I got home she had had the worst bloddy diaharrea that I ended up taking it to the vet for tests. I know it most likely had nothing to do with my being gone that long but I felt bad.

| I have no choice but to leave Buddy 9hrs per day 5 days a week. I make it up to him for the rest of the time. We do everything together on the weekends in the am before work and at night after work. I have cancelled many dinners out with the girls because of him. I knew this would happen before I got him but that was my choice. He is worth it. He's perfect in everyway for me. He is a good boy and I reward him with all the love and attention I can give him at this time. One day soon we will be together 7 days per week. |

| 8 hours but not by choice when we go to work. On weekends, an hour at most. We take her on every errand we can. In fact, we're taking her to Las Vegas with us this weekend because we don't have a sitter and can't part with her for 4 long days!! |

| I had a part time job that sometimes I would have to work 8 hours shifts that I quit because that was too long to be away from Cooper. I have since taken a job where I only work 10 hours a week. I have like to have the extra money to buy him stuff, LOL! My husband will take Cooper (and now Carley) to work occasionally because everyone wants to see them. He took them both last friday and I was thinking, "oh it will be nice to have the whole bed to myself"....nope couldn't sleep, cause they weren't there. I was also going to do a little shopping before picking them up...nope, straight there. I really don't think I was as bad as this when my kids were small...I know I wasn't!!

| What a relief that I'm not the only one with separation anxiety!!!!! You guys have no idea how much better this makes me feel. Towards the end of my 8 hour work day I start getting panicky (even though I went home at lunch). I think about Howie all day at work and sometimes have some serious guilt issues about leaving him. It's nice to know other people get like this too.
