I am sorry for the poor little critters in them, but no, I wouldn't buy from a pet shop. Don't trust them.

Theres a petshop near my house and I went thier once the dogs lookes so happy to see me but looked like they liked being in thier cages but I feel bad that they have to stay in thier cages all day long!:(Thats very said:(

I work for Petco and we promote adoption. But there was just a petland opened up near us. There are people buying dogs constantly in there. Alot of the pups that require grooming come to us and some of the stories these people are telling us are horrible about the pups being sick and all kinds of stuff. ALl I have to say is if you do plan to buy from a pet shop BE CAREFUL!!!!!!

I love petco,I always buy from there and call to see about my pets sice Pebbles is having kennel cough I like to callcuase they give me alot of info and I only trust the petshops that I trust In general I dont like petshops:(Poor dogs in the cages

I dont like petshops I dont think they take pride in there work . plus some workers arnt very friendly.

Was the poll regarding buying a dog from a petshop OR buying general items from a petshop? I\'m confused... :confused:

we have a pet shop in town that I like the people in there are very nice and now a lot. The only thing they sell are fish, reptiles, and bunnies. If they sold puppies I would not support them.

Me too, I thought the poll was for general items. We have Petco and PetSmart in our area. And they don\'t sell dogs but occassionally they have kittens/cats but they are in conjunction with adoption places like the humane society so I don\'t mind shopping there.

I can and will answer this thread in two parts. If you are referring to "general pet shop purchases" then yes, I shop in a pet store all the time. Food, toys, general stuff, and whatever else tickles my fancy...

Then...If you are referring to purchasing "dogs" or "pets" in petstores then as of now no I would never do it again but have in the past. :(

Many years ago I was not mature in my knowledge of "where the proper place is to purchase pets". So, I have purchased Keeko a poodle, Gizmo a Pomeranian which was a gift, purchased from a petstore, and a Himilayan kitty I bought from a petstore. All were healthy and lived long lives.

Yet now as I have matured and grown. I have learned more truth and would never in my wildest dreams purchase another pet from a petstore and continue educating others in not doing the same.

Just remember though the next time you pass by a petstore and might want to do some "protesting" that those in there wanting to buy their dream baby pet, just might not be educated either so protest with a very kind heart and explain that their is probably a better place to buy their next sweet baby pet! :aimeeyork

i buy from petsmart and do grooming and training there. i trust their grooming because i like the fact that they work next to a window where u can see everything. also, it doesnt smell bad. i walked into a Petco in NYC once and there was a dead macaw in its cage YUCK
