Under my contract when I sell a puppy, reselling or rehoming is not allowed, it is to be returned to me any time in its lifetime if the buyer can't keep it for any reason.
Question from the buyers point of view buying from a pet store or broker why would you as a buyer pay all that money for a puppy when you have no idea the conditions that puppy was raised under, you aren't going to get guarantees that the seller will stand behind, you have no idea about the parents, grandparents, health issues of same and what they looked like, you do not have an experienced breeder to ask questions about caring for your new puppy, don't have anyone to phone if you run into problems, don't really know if you are a suitable home for a Yorkie or not as a broker/pet store is not going to grill you as I will. Brokers/pet stores are not immersed in the breed so cannot give you the information about Yorkies you will need as a pet owner.
Any puppies I have for sale or older dogs I am placing, you get history, you can see parents, grandparents, in some case siblings, cousins, or pictures of same. I can tell you about the personality of your puppy or dog, whether or not it is suitable to your home and lifestyle. I am there 24/7 to give any advice, help, pointers, grooming help, you get a puppy pack of food, comb brush toy treat, appropriate harness and leash, training help and advice, Canadian Kennel Club registration transferring the dog or puppy to your name and ownership at no extra cost to you which will verify that your dog or puppy is a purebred all of which is required by a breeder in good standing with the Canadian Kennel Club and required under the law via the Federal Animal Pedigree Act. As an added note, the cost of registering a litter, doing the individual dog registrations and transfers works out to less than $50 /pup in cost to me which sure as heck isn't much. Should there be a problem with your puppy, you get guarantees for health both genetic and congenital issues there at birth not evident when the pup was young, that may show up later and which I will honour unquestionably once verified by my Vet.
Brokers have not put their heart and soul into these live creatures but do see an opportunity to make a living off them. And exactly what sort of breeder do you think would sell through a broker rather than knowing exactly the home their puppy is going to? And exactly how many puppies do you think a beeder would have available to sell that they are selling through a broker? Why would a breeder not want you in their home to sell directly to you rather than going through a third party?
This isn't rocket science. |
