I went to Nautra Pet Products and compared ingredients with flint river original and premium puppy food to wellness and there is no comparison. The first 5 ingredients with flint River premium Lamb food, are lamb meal, whole ground millet, ground whole rice, rice bran, menhaden fish meal, & grapeseed oil, the food has a total of 12 ingredients. Wellness super 5 mix puppy food, first 5 ingredients are, chicken, salmon meal, menhaden fish meal, oatmeal/rolled oats, barley floour, & ground brown rice, the food has a total of 24 ingredients. I have done a lot of research on foods and there are several products that have really good ingredients. At one time I used the stand-by's such as Iams, Science Diet, etc., didn't know anybetter. I am so grateful that I ran across this site where I can put each product side by side and compare ingredients. Barbg |

We just talked about the different ingredients in various dogfood packaging yesterday at Tiger's puppy class and Science Diet was one of them. It is one of the most popular dog food in America today. Just so you know, although the main ingredient is protein, the second on the list is some kind of cornmeal, which does nothing to a dog, nutrients wise. Just thought you might know! |
I feed Tiger INNOVA |
Hi im a new owner of YT and i want to know whats the best food for my YT? |
We are a HUGE fan of the Innova products, especially EVO. Our rescue has great hair, skin and is of perfect weight after starting her on the EVO. Her irritable bowel issues have also completely resolved. Good luck finding your favorite. Jen |

I have never seen it but would like to try it. ;) |
I buy it locally at a pet food store, but it is available at a few dealers online. Natura may be able to send you some samples, one bag will last a couple of days. If not, I know they can give you a list of retailers in your area and mail order sites, because that's what they did with me. Their site may also help locate vendors, I can't remember. The EVO and Merrick canned, two tablespoons a day of the chicken or turkey varieties is the ONLY thing that Jolene will eat. If she gets even a morsel of something else, she gets diarrhea. I don't give her treats as it upsets her tummy, so we swear by the EVO. She was on it for a couple of months before she got any canned food at all. hope you can find some, if not let me know and I will see if I have anymore sample bags around. Jen |
I feed Josie wellness. It was recc by her breeder and I like that the ingrediants are all natural. She is also allergic to chicken so they have other flavors. She loves it! |

I feed Flint River Ranch Puppy & Adult Kibble Dog Food - with at least 37 ingredients including chicken, whole wheat flour, ground rice, lamb meal and fish meal. I've thought of using one of their other products, Flint River Ranch Trout & Potato - it has Trout, Potato, Course Ground Millet, Herring Meal, Oatmeal and Sweet Potatoes for the first 5 ingredients and also cranberries and blueberries in it. This sounds close to the ingredients you listed. Also, I've never had problems like BrookeB mentioned. But I do buy my food here locally. My dogs love the Flint River. :aimeeyork Sorry if my earlier post sounded too much like a know-it-all, just doing my best to be my babies' mom. :girl_hug: On another note, how often does everyone feed their dog? My vet had to train me to do so just once a day. Seemed strange at first - goodness knows I eat more than once a day, so why shouldn't they? I think the way he explained it was that if they eat more than once a day it keeps their digestive system active for too much of the day. The big difference with feeding only once a day is no one seems to be using the peepads in the middle of the night or having any accidents. (My dogs are gated into the kitchen at night.) Anyway, now I feed them first thing in the morning and maybe they get a carrot or a healthy doggy treat later in the day. Yorkiesmiles :aimeeyork :aimeeyork |
I have fed Royal Canin since we have had Mojo....he had the puppy, then the Yorkshire Formula and the occassional mix of Royal Canin Special 30 (for picky eaters). We are soon to try Innova Evo though. Have never used soft food (only when he came home from breeder). |
Jenny loves Ceser meals! :) :) :) |
Natural Balance for Rocky I feed him Natural Balance he loves it and it has no "by product meats" all natural with veggies and all and he seems to love it too. I changed his food from one day to the next and thank god didnt have any problems. FYI they do not do testing on animals either, wont support companies who do. |

I would like to try switching foods but not sure which to switch too. May I ask what food you are feeding your little guy ? I do not like all of these chemical preservatives either. In the days before all of these many brands of dog food there was basically on Purina for dry foods. I cookeda fresh beef hamburgerfor my Yorkie every single day for the 17 1/2 years that he was with usand he never had a single illness until the very end when he passed away. My dogs here are all young, the oldest is 6 years and they always seem to be having one problem or another. Diareaha, throwing up, and then HGE. Vet recommends switching to Purina One, but I am not sure Iwant to do that. Thanks again  [/QUOTE] What is HGE? Thanks |
