someone posted about using ferret collars for really tiny babies... |
Why not leave the harness on? I found this poll and discovered that most people who use harnesses don't use them all the time. Susan goes out on a leash most of the time, so if she doesn't wear her harness all the time that means I'll have to put it on her every time I take her out -- including first thing in the morning and last thing at night when I'm half asleep and when she's hopping up and down desperate to go out. It just doesn't seem practical to me. I take the harness off if she's going to be home alone, otherwise she wears it. It doesn't seem to bother her. Why do people take them off and doesn't putting them on and taking them off get bothersome? I'm just curious about the thinking on this in case I'm missing something I should consider. |
Albert only wears a Harness when we are going outside. |
there have been too many yorkies lost from hanging themselves with their collars. So, no, mine do not ever wear collars but do wear harnesses when we go someplace. |
We have never used a collar on our yorkies only a harness and thats only used when we go out. |

Sometimes yes and sometimes not. Poor girl is always in trouble... :) :) |
Trixie wore a regular collar for obedience training, but did not like it at all. She gets sooo excited sometimes that even the collar won't stop her and she'll pull until she can't breathe. Since obedience training is done, I only walk her on a harness. She never ever ever has the harness on when she is by herself! Way to dangerous! |
ALL 6 of my dogs wear their collars ALL the time. If we go for a walk, I put their harnesses on. Their collars have their ID on them. So if for some reason when I am not home and they magically find a way out, I know they have some sort of ID. And around here they are known as necklaces! |

Harnesses for walks or when going in the car. |
mine only wears the harness. and its only when we go out. i really dont like collars that much. |
Bella is "naked" at home. She doesnt wear a collar or harness when we are indoors. When we go out for walks I'll put her harness on. The reason why I dont keep one on her at home is because I feel Yorkie's hair can matt easily therefore I dont want to keep one on her unless I need to. Its not bothersome to me at all to take it off and put it on. |
Collar all the time- harness for only when going out for a walk. Micro-chipped but scared if she ever got out hoping the person could look at the tag on the collar and returned her without waiting for them to take her someone to read the micro-chip ( or would they?) |
At first mine only wore a harness when they went out, But Bell use to get out every once in a while that it made me nervous, so now mine wear collars with their name tags. But I only use them for their name tags, I still use a harness for walking. |
collard all the time. wait a minute! aren't those greens? I like collards but they don't. they do have collars though and my husband has me on a leash. hmmm....i'm confused. |
Mine only wear a harness when they go for a walk. I hardly ever put their collars with all the tags and id info on them....and I DO worry that they will get away and have no kind of id on them. Bentley is microchipped but the other three aren't. I've heard that wearing a colar all the time thins the hair on their neck but that might just be bunk :D If we go to petsmart or something we usually just carry them in and put them in a buggy. |
