restrain I, too, am guilty on holding Midge Margaret in my hand while "we" drive. Midge thinks she is the co-pilot. However, some days I do use the crate and so she doesn't have her way all the time. |
i think its good to use the harnesses or carseat buckle-ins! Safety first is what i say! |

Yes, have to be safe with these babies! |
My Maggie not a good Passenger I didn't not do my Maggie a favor by not getting her trained or use to riding in the car when I first got her. Now when we get in the car she gets stressed. She pants and she is all over the car. I bought her a car seat but she fights it and still pants and is not happy. I need any tips that any of you might have on how I can change this behavior. I am willing to put in the work just need to know how to approach it. |

We'll if you get a seat that has a clip you can attach her to she can't run all over the car. And as loing as she is panting from stress and not heat you should be okay. Try finding a seat you can clip her to so she can't run around. I took mine on every car ride I could when little and he loves it. He got sick at first but then he got used to it. Your baby will get used to it to. And cracking the window can help sometimes. My boy loves the wind in his face. :D |
I finally tried out a car seat for Pao Pao last week. I am very happy with the outcome. I made his car seat about 6 months ago but never gotten around to using it as I thought he wouldn't like it and prefers my lap. I have planned and made his car seat in such a way that even with an accident, I know it will keep him safe and won't be thrown out the window and making it myself have saved me some serious money. Car seats for dogs are not cheap in Canada. I was driving and I put the car seat on the passenger seat and strap him in. He wanted to jump out of it at first and on to my lap but I didn't give him the chance to and just giving him a firm "No" each time. Then after a while I saw as if a light bulb went "ding" in his little head and he started enjoying it! He is elevated in the car seat and he can look out the front and side window without too much effort. He can just sit in the car seat relaxed and still be able to look out the window. When he is tired he could lie down and have his head out and still be able to look out. I think he likes the comfort that it brings =) Edited to add: Pao doesn't disturb me anymore when I drive now...he is too busy looking outside and I have gotten quite a few smiles and laughs from people that parked by my side when the traffic lights are red =D |
The C's travel in their crates, strapped in with the seat belts. CoCo would love to sit on someone's lap, but Coffee actually prefers his crate. |
Guess I just have to be persistent. The seat that I have does attach to her collar. We just need to ride a lot, huh? Thanks for your input. Anyone else have suggestions, I am open. |
My two always ride in their car seats.....that way I know they are safe and I have no distractions. |
