I think you say it the right way, but I say york-SHYER.

I ask because I have a student who seems to know a lot about dogs, and she said it the "shyer" way. That got me thinking! Does she know more than the teacher who can do no wrong? LOLOL

I say york-sherr, but I think the way it's pronounced is a telltale sign what part of the country you come from. I'm anxious to see if this poll will prove me right. Across the Pond I believe they say york-Shyer. JMO!!!

I had to stop and think about it for a second, york-sherr. I usually say yorkie.

Btw, that "pond" that was mentioned is also known as - the Atlantic Ocean

Ha ha ha ha ha. When I first saw the poll, I thought, how silly. Everyone knows how to pronounce it. Then I started looking at the choices and not knowing how I pronounce it!

I checked York-sherr, but I'm not even sure any more.

I'm waiting for some of our UK folks to check in. We say York-sherr - which is the same way we pronounce Yorkshire Pudding (another English treat). My hubby's dad was born in England, as were his grandparents and this pronounciation came from them!!!!!

Were are our UK friends?? Of course, they may differ as well -- it's so funny to hear different people pronounce the same words. Also some places just plan pronounce something differently.

Well we all know how to pronounce the state of Nevada -- but we have a town in Iowa, spelled the same, but pronounced Navaydah - long a in the middle

I've heard people say Nevada differently too. I say Neh VA da, likes it's pronounced in Spanish...being that it is a Spanish word. hehehe

We have a town here in Jersey called Bogota. This also happens to be the capital of Colombia. Here in Jersey it's called Bah GO ta. The capital of Colombia is Bow go TA.
