I know sometimes I haven't read something correctly and maybe commented and got someone upset, but I also know that others my miss what I'm saying -- but in the long run I am the responsible one. We should be able to post our comments, but do so with some grace. And sometimes we have to just agree to disagree. Please PM me if I have out stepped my boundaries and said something offensive. I'm certainly not here to offend |
I am SO glad you started this thread. I really want to see just how many here will be TOTALLY honest with us here at YT and themselves! I cast my vote for being responsible for how my words may affect others! And, I tend to not post much as a result. I find myself constantly sitting on my hands just to keep from getting involved with some of the petty issues that goes on around here. I have read WAYto many posts where a few select individuals have posted their opinion(s) in a manner in which they could care less of how it may affect others. And, for me that is just way out of character. The way I see things is if you don't like what someone has posted, just close the post and move on! If everyone did this, there really wouldn't be a need for this poll in the first place...Now, would there?!?! Remember Mother always said "If you don't have anything nice to say...DON'T SAY ANYTHING!":D |
I am fairly new to this board. This is what I see. There are very educated members of this board who want to teach others about our beloved Yorkies. When they post it is most often the Newbies with fewer than 1,500 posts that are coming on calling them rude, hateful, mean, intolerant, intimidating, just to name a few. Now who is doing the unkind thing here? I read and re-read the posts looking for why the educator is being accused and most of the time I just can't find it. I have seen long time members siding with the complainers and it makes me very disappointed. Who is being the positive poster here? Again, JMHO. Joanne |
As usual, I'm am totally in the dark here. I must miss a lot of posts or something because I have not read anything mean. This is also the first I've seen this string and am already too late to vote. I keep reading how upset people are about rude posters, but have not read any of those myself. Oh well! |

The two questions were: 1) I have the right to speak my mind and if it hurts others it doesn't matter. 2) I have the right to speak my mind, but I also bear the responsibility of how my words affect others. |
For the first time yesterday I was involved with a thread where a newbie left YT after all that mess. It wasn't the subject matter that I disagreed with it was how some posters worded their posts. I know that there are many smart, educated members here with a strong passion regarding some hot issues but some newbies come to YT to learn about those issues or have questions regarding those issues and want to learn. From them learning they can educate others and that's why YT and other forums exist..not just for pretty pictures and funny stories but to learn about our Yorkies and how to make their world a safer and healthier place.:animal-pa Yes and by the time most people read heated threads the bad posts are deleted so some question why all the fuss? If they only saw what was deleted then maybe they would understand.:animal-pa |
I could ask why commentary from one isn't allowed while others have been allowed to post their comments. Every post on every forum, everywhere, is subjected to the reader’s perception and interpretation of the poster’s intent. This includes what I just posted about...in every reader's mind a perception and/or opinion was formed. Btw, I have always fully accepted the responsibility of my actions. |

no the thread i am referring to had only one post deleted. |
I have seen a cycle on YT since I joined. For a little while there seemed to be a lot of negativity. Then it was positive for awhile. And lately there does seem to be a lot of undertones to what people say. It is a shame when a new member gets jumped on. They are here to learn, as I have since joining. I have always said that the education I get out of YT outweighs the bad comments. So yes, I feel one does have a responsibility to not hurt others when they speak. Once the comment is made, you can not take it back. Everyone has an opinion, sometimes it is best to keep it to yourself. |

I think everybody should take responsibility for what they say but I have also seen where someone was called rude when they were just informing. Even when they put things like I am saying this gently. There seems to be alot of drama both ways lately. Those being accused of being rude and those scolding them |
