molly grove 3 Attachment(s) Molly grove was one of our local beaches. We used to have ferrets, they've all passed now, mostly from old age. I used to love taking photos of them, here's a couple. |

Oddstock, those are beautiful images! Gosh, what a beautiful view! The ferrets are so cute too. |

3 Attachment(s) Just by chance we happened through this town (Cottonwood Falls, Kansas) during the Dirty Kanza. It's a 200 mile bike challenge through the Flint Hills of Kansas and all on Dirt Roads, hence the name dirty. Many of these roads are not maintained and are muddy from recent rains. If anyone is interested you view more images here: 2015 Dirty Kanza 200 images: first look - Adventure Monkey or on Instagram you can search #dk200 #dirtykanza #dirtykanza200 for some incredible photos of athleticism, stamina, and determination. Some bikers had to carry their bikes at times as the roads were impassible. I got this image at a check point. They don't know the next leg of the race until they get a map at the checkpoint. I am not in to biking, but if I were, I can see how this would be an incredible rush. |

Wowee that is a great pic! And did you know not only is it a full moon tonight but it is called a Strawberry Moon. Supposedly accredited to the Algonquin Indians who named this moon which heralded the start of the berry season :-) Hopefully I will able to stay up late enough and with clear skies to get a pic of Southern Ontarios' strawberry moon |

It should read 'still'. It's not the only mistake, but that one screams at me. Should warn, I have memory issues and can remember how to do/write/say something one day, hour, morning and then not be able to later the same day. My writing skills have deteriorated badly over the past 10 years. It shocks me sometimes. Couldn't even remember my name one day. So sorry for the bad spelling anyway. |

4 Attachment(s) My daughter and I seen an article about waterfalls in Kansas. I know, who would have thought, right? LOL They may not be enormous, but they are waterfalls. (It's kind of a joke between us that they are not necessarily tourist attractions but would be fun to dodge snakes and poison ivy anyway to see them) Anyways, if you were to draw a line right down the center of Kansas they are ALL in the eastern half of the state. We decided we'd try to go and see every single one of them this summer. On May 31st we knocked out 3 of them. 1. This is an old mill (I may have shared this photo previously) with a man made waterfall on the Cottonwood River. If you look closely the mill has a huge crack and with recent high waters it is in danger of falling. I wanted to photograph it before it gave way to the flood waters. The waterfall was sort of a bonus. Attachment 406123 2. This is a waterfall, also on the Cottonwood River a few miles down from the first one, also man made. Waters are high and we were mesmerized by the sheer power of the swirling water. You can't tell, but those logs were whole trees being swept into the whirpool. Attachment 406124 3 These are the Chase Lake Falls. My dh and I fish this lake and until recently I never knew there were these beautiful falls behind the dam. It was like an oasis. Don't be fooled, this is not a forrest, just a few trees hiding these waterfalls. Outside of the trees, not a tree for miles. :D The water is clear and only about knee deep. If it wasn't cool this day, we would have played in the water. Notice the tree growing across the top. It was about a 150 yard hike to find this place. We'll definitely go back! Attachment 406125 4. My dd and her pup who will go along with us. This is a smaller waterfall below the previous one. It's actually a series of 3 falls. Just a beautiful place even for Kansas! Attachment 406126 |
