| Thanks a million Michele! I was advised to start a food diary to hold myself accountable for staying GF. Gonna print your post out as a kind of cheat sheet for grocery shopping. Gluten is sneaky!

| Yes it is. I cried the first time I went to the store after being diagnosed, and seeing all the labels and I called my husband bawling. I told him "I'm never going to be able to eat anything good again!!!" Lol.

| Just eat real food instead of looking at boxes. It's not that hard. The replacements for gluten are no better for your health.

| For wraps, these are pricey but good and no garbage ingredients. I also use nori sheets for seafood salads etc. Paleo Wraps? 1 Pack 7 Wraps (Gluten Free, Raw, Vegan, Low Carb)

| Celiac Disease I too was diagnosed finally after years of suffering from this disease. Finally one day in my last semester of college I decided that enough was enough and finally made my dr send me for testing instead of just masking the symptoms with Imodium and ointments for the rashes. Diagnosed with endoscopy, I knew I had it but just needed the dr to confirm it. It was both a blessing and a curse when I had definite diagnosis. It would explain why I was chronically sick for over 16 years. But now I couldn't eat wheat, Rye and barley for the rest of my life;0 Then having family realize I couldn't eat it and why, to this day four years later I still have to tell family I will not be eating birthday cake or pasta or fried chicken. I find that just eating fresh foods are better then the pre packaged foods, they carry way to much calories and carbs. And breads and baked goods are horrible;/ I would rather just not eat it. I love to shop at trader joes and also whole foods. I found that if you want to experiment with baking the best GF flour to me is Better Batter

| Dr Oz just did a segment this last week on this subject. You could google him and watch it. It was very insightful.

Trying to get diagnosed is horrible. Have you looked into your toiletries? A lot of them have wheat and some people have a problem with it. I've been looking into various dog grooming supplies and a lot of them have hydrolyzed wheat protein. | |
