i saw on my pickle addicts FB page (LOL yes really) they did a high quality cold cut, spread with cream cheese rolled over pickles, and sliced into pinwheels and held together with festive toothpicks. YUM!

I also love smoked salmon rolled with cream cheese. But wienies in BBQ? Man, what?!

Little smoked sausages thrown into a crock pot with BBQ sauce and served with a box of toothpicks to get them out with. Pure redneck laziness!

I am so sick of the cake pops. Ya know the mini cup cakes on a stick all round.
They're great but evvvvvvveryone here has done them lately and I'm (grumpy I know) so tired of seeing adults eating them....what are you 5?

OMG I hate both of those options!! Why not at least a cool veggie pizza or something??

Cool veggie pizza is also "old school" but it at least has some flavor! It's a crescent roll crust with a light cream cheese and ranch mixture as a sauce. Top with LOTS of chopped veggies!

We are members of the same pickle addicts page :D:D And I have made those at Thanksgiving for years!! So addicting:thumbup:

No comment on the salmon lol

We never really see much on the cake pop front here ~ or maybe I don't notice them because I don't eat the desserts :p

Im also really sick of terribly innappropriate food-like a hot chowder in august, or non-individual ice cream (like, in quarts) with no ice to keep it cold. We live in Georgia!

I have to disagree to a certain extent because my husband's family alwyas has interesting and different food items because his dad is a chef and his mom is Italian. Sometimes its nice to just have a regular ole beenie weenie. LOL!

:D Do you remember those cubes of cheese, then a cube of pineapple, threaded onto a cocktail stick, then stuck into a half grapefruit to resemble a hedgehog....?!!!!? :D Or was that just an over here thing....?!!? :D :eek: :D

And how about those 'Prawn Rings' - where semi-peeled prawns were placed in a giant circle around a pot of 'Thousand island Dressing' - all set at an angle so they looked like dancing girls legs?!!!!? :eek: :D

A big crock pot of sloppy joes! With the dreaded canned pork and bean,they would get a couple strips of bacon over the top to make them gourmet status....:rolleyes:

The big open flat pan with the blackened foil edges turned back to reveal endless BBQ brisket slices. I don't guess I've been to a party the last 10 years that didn't have this huge pan of brisket. I wonder if it's the same pan!

so.. all my tried and true favorites are in this post! lol The sad part is I sort of like the odies... except the hot dogs in bbq sauce.

Now I love hummus.. but served with veggies. I like brochetta ..and you can do different flavors.

I agree with lisa.. what ever it is if it out of the freezer at bj or publix it will not be as good as freshly made. Simple with a creative twist is best!!

btw.. I make a wonderful baked beans and I use can pork and beans as a base sometimes-- and I do put bacon on top lol
I mostly will not eat baked beans in resturants because they are so yuk!!
