I forgot how much shipping costs, plus it would never make it over the border....customs would take them!
When my son went to Iowa for school, I bought him oranges (from Florida) to take with him. Customs wouldn't let us in the U.S. with the oranges!
My smart mouth said, 'dont see why not they came from here (Florida)....so now i can't bring them back???' You know they held us and searched us for over an hour??!! One of these days I'll learn to shut up!

Second question... What is the best way to cut? (I feel like I am wasting part of the fruit.) Do you peel first, then slice? (I am such a newbie to this, please forgive!)

We have an over abundance of them this year, but on my third one I started breaking out- I thought I got into some poison ivy- nope it was the mangos! I have a nasty rash under my ring, the side of my mouth and a little in my eye. These were fresh off the trees and it is actually the sap/skin and the seed I am allergic too. I peeled the others with gloves and froze them in icecube trays for the rest of the family.

We use a "mango slicer". Looks like an apple cutter. I have one made by OXO. It has larger handles and grips which makes it easier to use. The picture is off of Amazon but mine was from a big box store and was less than the price listed on Amazon.

Yup, one of the comments on the Youtube video said this:
"The skin of the mango and especially the juice which oozes out of the stem of the mango can cause allergic reactions in some people. The mango is in the poison ivy family."

I did not know this!

I've always done it like the first video.

I much prefer Philippine mangoes. They are the small ones that are all orange/yellow, no red or green in them. They have a much smaller seed and a lot less fibrous.

The only way I really eat mangoes are with chili, salt and lemon!

Oh my gosh! You just confirmed what I had been suspecting for some time. Sometimes (not always) after I handle a mango I break out. I recently started to suspect it might be the mangos because I had noticed it was after I eat a mango that I start to notice the tingling sensation but I had never looked it up. The rash is much like what you would get from poison ivy. Always on my face/neck which is why I thought it was something I was eating. I love them so much though that I keep buying them and eating them. Now that I know this, I will handle them much differently. This is the worst....

I feel for you, I am so disappointed that I won't be able to enjoy the season anymore.. I also read that kiwis and latex can be sensitive also(the way I am allergic to cats, but also rabbits and horses) . I know I am allergic to latex, and if I touch something of someone who has poison ivy I get it. It says I can eat the flesh of mango if someone else handles it but I think I don't want to take the chance!

youch!! aww man. I don't have any food allergies, I just couldn't imagine what that must be like! I remember in Dr Dolittle (Eddie Murphy version) there was a woman who was so allergic to shellfish but loved to eat it, and she hid in the bathroom to eat it bc her face swelled up all crazy. I think it was that movie anyway.
