A new food challenge
 
Priscilla and I talked about this a few months ago.....and decided maybe nobody would go for it.

But I'm not convinced. This could work ;)


Can we CHALLENGE every person who frequents this board to go outside of their comfort zone and try one new food???

I am willing to try most anything once ;) But fish is my downfall. I will try a new variety of fish and report back.

Any other brave souls?

I know Michelle (Jadabug) already has a few ideas :p

And P has vowed to try escargot!! (right???)

My family has never had lamb....I am going to trick them and make lamb burgers..ha Lisa is to blame for this if they throw a fit:D

I am a southern girl. We eat beans, meat, and potatoes. :D:D But I just told Lisa I would try asparagus. It is green (Ewwwwww). But I am going to try. While holding my nose! :p

Now Lisa. About that fish what have you tried. Maybe we can get you a good ole Arkansas pond fish! :p:p:p

Here is a fool proof cooking method for yummy to die for (in a good way :D:D) asparagus!

We are beans, meat and potatoes here too....but asparagus is one of our favorite vegetables...we all love it:)

Hey Rhonda...I think you need to get Lisa a big ole mud turtle outta the pond....they say turtle is delish:p

One thing I can't bring myself to try is slimy stuff like Oysters. It's like sucking snot. I think you ladies are on your own with this one. I have tried escargot, though! It tastes like mushrooms with butter and garlic. YUM!

another VERY simple way I make asparagus is to steam (or cook in boiling water/stock) until tender crisp. I add garlic to the water

drain and add lemon juice, water, a bit of lemon zest, parm cheese and salt and pepper!

Cod is usually battered and fried. Beer battered is the best. YUM! And I'm not a "fish" person either. Unless it's shrimp, crab or lobster!

Asparagus is delicious with butter and garlic (then again, what isn't?). I suggest buying the green and not the white. The white is very bitter.

I think they say it tastes like several different meats...chicken being one of them. We drained one of our ponds years ago and Ricky's uncle came and got all the turtles to eat.

So the slimy snotty oysters are RAW. How about trying them STEAMED and on a cracker with hot sauce?? Or Oysters Rockafeller? Oyster chowder? Dip?

How about a different food that you have never tried? Doesn't have to be exotic. I/we inspired Betty to try Mango a few months back ;) ;)

No, I liked it! I can't think of anything non-slimy that I want to try, but haven't. LOL
