Oh, and I loved your one-liner...."I had a continental breakfast again"! It actually made me feel quite guilty....;) :) By the way, what's a Lawry's lovely please? Oh, and I've just had half a dozen Thorntons chocolates with my coffee (which of course had sugar and cream in! ;)) x |

Not Lawry's lovely - it's "...Lawry's lovely, succulent rolls....." Yeasty, moist and to die for! Pull one apart and the moist steam just boils out of the fresh-baked roll into the air..................ah..........Heaven!!! Sally, you must buzz the Gulfstream down and scoop up Morgan on your way to Big D. We'll wait until the teams for the Cotton Bowl are due for their Lawry's dinner tradition - one teams goes one day and the other goes a different day. We could manage to be there both days. It's after Christmas but what the heck! Talk about a lot of beef - and its not all from Lawry's fine kitchens!!! Much of it is 6' 6" and over, looks awfully dashing in a suit and in testimony to the quality of the beefcake, there is a line of Dallas' richest, most fetching young ladies & more than a few vintage Texas cougars in line well past the limo's and news cameras when the doors open for lunch those days! We could squeeze right in! Fine plate of beef for lunch and fine beef to smile back at you, nod the head with a shy, dimpled "Ma'am" smile - can't beat a day like that anywhere. Football players in Dallas all have the Texas "Ma'am" smile down pat! So stick your bottle of nitro right beside your passport in your Hermes before leaving home - you'll need it!!!!!!!!!! |
:D Hee hee! I think I got lost in translation - I was thinking Lawry's lovely was some kind of drink or sauce..... :D Plus all the rest sounds quite heavenly (sorry, Andy! :D). I've just had 2 toasted tea cakes for lunch, absolutely oozing with butter...that's it 'til dinner tonight....:( :D x |
No, Lawry\'s is just where you go for good prime rib in Dallas and the restaurant been around from before all our time here. The restaurant, now rebuilt and in a new location since the early 80\'s, is a tradition in Dallas since I was a kid and they do separately sell seasonings, sauces, etc., named Lawry\'s, in supermarkets, etc. They have restaurants in Dallas, Beverly Hills, Chicago, Las Vegas and internationally. They are listed in Wikipedia but much of the information about their beginnings is incorrect and or incomplete. I wonder how many calories the average diner there puts from appetizers, drinks, meals, desserts and after dinner drinks and coffee! |
I had coffee, cream & sugar for breakfast. Watching TV coverage of Hurricane Sandy. |
