Capt Noonie, last night of Iron Chef, they were using uni (sea urchin) in several of their recipes. I may have had it because I sometimes eat sushi. One guy on the show was cooking bone marrow; so, you actually eat the marrow in the bone? I told my husband, "Capt Noonie loves uni...she even named her yorkie Uni." He said, "Who!!!" He should have know it was from yt!! |

Boil 3-4 stalks of lemon grass in a quart of chicken stock for about 30 min. Let sit for about 5-10 minutes, remove stalks and slowly add (while stirring) about 1/2 can of coconut milk. That's the base! Now you can add whatever you like to it! I have used shrimp, chicken and tons of different veggies.:) (Make sure you rinse the lemon grass stalks first, and they will need to be cut in pieces to fit your pot.) |
How do you get the little signature thingies at the bottom? Sorry. I'm new here. :\ |

Oh forgot to say, yes you can eat bone marrow, but it has to be in a bigger bone, lamb being probably the smallest. But beef bones are a good size. It's kind of fatty, but in a good way. Kinda hard to explain, but lots of flavor! Quote:

Are the beef bones used in soups, or do you put them on a plate and dig the marrow out? This is so interesting! I enjoy hearing about different cultures and different foods.:) |
I am sooo picky, but reading the way you guys describe your favorite foods makes me wish I wasn't so picky! I have no food to add really.... toasted ravioli is a regional food here I've been told... I think everyone needs to try cheddar cheese toasted ravioli! So good! This thread needs more pictures of the foods but I can't find one of mine at the moment. |

Then there are also the ethnic foods that have a whole big piece of bone in some type of soup or stew that is just cooked until super soft, and that you just slurp it out! :D I usually will eat menudo from time to time, and this one spot where I go, they ask you if you want the bone too. Of course I said yes! This is the only place that ever asked me, I am wondering if it is from a certain region of Mexico that does this or what. |

So refreshing yet totally sweat inducingly spicy at the same time. bf's mom makes it the best. i always order it at restaurants and still think her's is the best. Although she doesn't put bean sprouts in hers like the pic, but this pic looks most like how she does it with the mini green beans too. :p |
1 Attachment(s) Soup! That reminds me I love Vietnamese Pho ga. A great chicken, rice noodle soup served with bean sprouts and basil and sirracha sauce (hot rooster sauce). |
