| Buying a fox red lab puppy... My mom is having a bit of a dilemma. She has been on a waiting list for over a year for a fox red lab female. The litter was born yesterday. There are 5 girls and 2 boys. The problem is that the breeder is already e-mailing my mom asking her which puppy she would like. Apparently there is a larger girl who is the darkest red, which makes her the pick of the litter. I have *NEVER* heard of choosing a puppy when they are one day old. I told my mom that she could go ahead and send in the deposit to hold a puppy, but to tell the breeder that she would like to wait to choose which pup she would like. We have always chosen dogs based on their personality. When we bred labs, we would wait until they were 4-5 weeks old before letting people put deposits on them. That way, we ensured that they were healthy and by that time, we could describe their personalities to their potential owners... What is your opinion?

| my lab is a foxred! The real light cream colored ones are beauties but I think the foxred is more beautiful. I'm always getting asked what kind of dog she is

| I have never heard of this color or the cream color. I would love to see pictures. As for when a puppy shoud be chosen I guess kind of varies for each breeder. It would be nice to see how they progress with their color and personality....maybe the breeder would be willing to wait. Tammy |

| click on Bridget in my signature. The light cream colored ones are more the 'standard'. People often call them white labs but there's no such thing. They're all Yellow labs, just different variations. Bridget's purebred but she has white spots on her. A large section on her chest and some on her feet. This makes her 'undesirable'. But she's still damn cute and my spoiled brat.
