I love the look of Huskies.... and Malamutes too! You DO have to be a special person to put up with the double coat and the shedding issues though. I always thought I wanted a Malamute until I babysat for someone that had one. As much as I loved being around the dog, I couldn't deal with leaving that house covered in hair. Gorgeous dogs though!

lol! Shedding is definately different, when you've had the non/low shed Yorkies, but we had a Husky for years before we got a non shedding dog (a silky terrier) so we were used to it. It's very nice to have no shedding. When our 1st husky passed away (she was hit by a car when she was 7 years old ) we had just our Silky, and it really, really was amazing not to have hair all over. lol! Then when our Silky passed, we got Dixie and Lucy, and again, there was no shedding, and then finally not having a Husky around just got lonely, so we got our little Holly. She's such a doll, and incredibly well behaved for a puppy. But I'll tell you, she's only a baby, and we already have fur all over. And it's much easier to tell now that we have a leather couch.

Beautiful dog ,we used to raise Malamutes way to hot here in southern MN,they loved the winters though you could always tell when it was going to snow as the dogs kepts smelling the air.

What I thought was so cool about the Malamute that the people I babysat for had was the way he turned colors. If you've not seen one up close, they have a thick white undercoat and than black hair on top so that when they get wet, the soft hair on top sinks down and the white stands up. That's why he was named Ghost. I'm assuming that's the way it works, it's been a long time since it was explained to me.

Monday, Black Jack was beautiful!!! Huskies are awesome dogs. I love them. Holly loves the 2 Yorkies, but they can't stand her.

Yes, I've heard that about Huskies and Malamutes. I got nostalgic about the Malamute I once knew and googled "Malamute forum" and found a chat board that was interesting reading. They were talking about how their "Mals" like to destroy furniture though. I don't know if I could handle that!

For the most part, lol! They usually run away if she tries to play with them. Dixie is an ornery little sprite, so sometimes she'll give Holly a show of the teeth. Holly of course doesn't realize she's threatening her, so she'll go on playing. They're fairly tolerent of her though, not much snapping or anything. Lucy will actually play with her until she gets too rough, then she'll let her know she's had enough, and come sit on a lap. lol!

Holly is actually extremley well behaved. She doesn't chew anything unless it's like a wrapper or something that smells like food. She's very good about only chewing her toys. She's a sweet little thing!

lol! We take the 3 of them around town sometimes and I'll tell them that Holly's their "little sister" and they just laugh!!! Dixie and Lucy are both a year old and Holly's 14-15 weeks old. lol! She weighed about 5 times as much as Dixie last time she was in the vet.

It was not easy ... I was a college student living at home and Blackjack ate the mattress. I came home form school and the mattress was staring at me as if it were a mouth wide open. My boyfriend and I sewed it up and got a mattress cover ...

However, I could not hide the fact that Blackjack ate the couch seats in the den ... upholsterers love dog owners.

He was so lovable, I could not give him up. I had to work overtime to pay for his messes ....

but as you can see, I did learn my lesson. I got a Yorkie this time around. *smile*
