| Any dog can be a wonderful dog provided they are trained and have discipline. I have found my poodles to be very easy to train, don't get me wrong I love my Yorkie, but the poodles are easier, I have had 6 poodles and I only had one that took longer than a week to house train, and that is because she was extremely inbred and very high strung. I do have my Yorkie trained but it took a lot longer and he will occasionally have an accident, although accidents are becoming far more infrequent. These dogs can range from 1500 to 10.000. Be careful, you want to definitely see the parents, alot of poodles are very tiny as pups and are sold as teacups when they will actually grow to be large toys. I have a large toy that was suppose to be a teacup. I believe the average price for them is from 2500 to 4000, I would not suggest you go below what they believe will be a 2 pounder, as you may get into some real health issues. The little black one I sent a pic of is Bosley, he is 6 yrs old and is my heart. You would laugh to see him boss the others around, he is the boss.

| I had a little white tiny toy some years ago. She was something else. I loved her dearly but she was a little 'wacko' It's funny really, I bought her from a german lady married to a Colonal in the service. She was a kick, but she had albums of her 'show dogs' in Germany. She would go on and on about the 'line' so I thought she was really GOOD!! Well, it was generation after generation of inner breding! She did some real nutty things and it just ended up we had to put her down when she was 8. We had a baby and I was afraid she would hurt her, and I knew if she went to someone elses home she would be abused. Back to it though ,she was very healthy and all the poodles my family and friends have had over the years have been good doggies. They do like to bark like shelties do. Some breeds are just like that. |

You just brought back memories. My grandma was always a poodle person. She had some very NICE poodles in her day. One in paticular was her "Suzy" who lived to be 17. Unfortunately she was not active into her 17th year. She was pretty much ok until she was 15. When the time came to end her suffering (she could not walk for the last 2 months of her life and had to be held up to relieve herself) my grandparents placed her in their special spot with their other past dogs. That dredful first night without her which was pure hell on them, well they put a hamburger pattie on her resting spot and it was gone the next morning. Of course an animal such as a raccoon, ect got it, but to this day they feel their "Suzy Q" got it. I wish they could still have dogs...but cannot due to their health. Thanks for sharing about your hubby's grandma with the 17 year old. | |
