| I just found this thread now. Thank goodness for the news! I'm so glad there is nothing seriously wrong!! Awwwww, Penny is a chubby little gal! But we'll just say she's pleasantly plump.

I believe she said gingival hyperplasia(not totally sure if I spelled that right). I havent had much of a chance to do research yet. I asked the vet if there was any way to prevent it or if it was caused by not chewing enough chew toys, or not getting enough good nutrition, etc and she said no, that it was just something that boxers commonly get and that there is no way to prevent it. She even said Penny's teeth looked really really clean(which I was really happy about). She said the only reason her gums probobly bled is because since they are swollen from the hyperplasia they were probobly in the way when she was chewing/playing with her dog toy. This whole thing isnt hurting penny or at least she never seems to be in pain even when her gums were bleeding she just kept on chewing and playing with her toys like nothing happened. But I will still be much happier when the swelling goes down so I am hoping this steroid does the trick asap. If it doesnt work we will have to try some antibiotic. Now if I can just figure out a way to put her on a diet. All the girls eat the same food and they eat whenever they feel like it. I just always have food down for them which is probobly my first mistake with why penny is overwieght. SHe eats all the time . So now not only do I have to put her on diet dog food but I have to regulate how much she eats. And I have to make sure the little girls still eat their regular food so this is goign to be quite a task.

| We took Coco off wet food and now mix in non-fat plain yogurt which she likes better anyways and we are hoping that she will lose weight because of it.
