Quick update on Coco....she has been doing pretty well considering. Her UTI came back and we started the antibiotics again. Has anyone every heard of Herbsmith? Our local dog store told me about a hollistic pill they make called Bladder care to help UTI's. They also mentioned feeding her a fish based food. According to Chinese medicine fish is a cooling meat and since she pants and gets warm it might help. Other than that she hasn't had any other issues. She is getting around and still wagging her tail:) |

Interesting about fish being a cooling meat, I wonder if that means it would help with hot flashes? |

The hardest kind thing you'll ever do I am sorry for your struggles with your doggie. It is never easy. I made the mistake of keeping a doggie alive longer than I should have once and I promised myself I would never do that to another doggie again. You have to assess the doggie's quality of life. And you have to be unselfish, which is the hardest thing to do. You want to keep your doggie with you, you want to give love to your doggie. Our doggies rely on us to take care of them. And knowing when to send them on to the Rainbow Bridge is one of the things they trust us to know. I consider sending them on to Heaven to be the last act of kindness you can show your dog. It hurts so much and is so hard, it makes you want to die with them. But they trust us and rely on us and we can't let them down by keeping them alive when their life is only pain and discomfort and inconvenience. One other weird thing I do is, if I have the chance, I talk to the sick doggie about what I'm doing and I tell them about Heaven. You know how they listen to us... Maybe I'm just doing that for me, but I would swear they do hear and know. I pray for you as you make this decision. Stay strong!! |

I'm glad she's doing better and is not in pain. I think you decided, rightly, that you will know when it is time. It does become apparent at some point. God bless and I will keep you in my prayers. |

My husband and I decided its time to let our sweet girl Coco go to Rainbow bridge. We have an appointment Wednesday evening. We want to give everyone in our family time to say goodbye as she was so well loved. She has deteriorated over the past week. She can't see, hear or smell and can only walk with assistance. We know she is in pain and at this point we need to focus on what's best for her. As I sit here and type this I remember the first day we brought Georgie home he was 1lb but was fiesty! While I am generally paranoid with him around every dog I never worried about Coco. She was so gentle with him. He would nip at her ears, hump her nose, and basically whatever he wanted and she just laid there. On occasion she would open her mouth and move her head around making sounds like chewbacca but she never so much as growled at him. I know most of you understand when I say that our life has been enriched by being her Mom and Dad. While life will never be the same without her we are so blessed that we shared 13 years with our special girl. She gave us way more love that we could have ever imagined. Thank you all for your advice and prayers during such a difficult time. I appreciate everyone on YT so much. |
Oh Morgan, I'm so sad to read about Coco's condition, I was truly hoping you had more time with her. I know you did not come to this decision lightly, and this is extremely heartbreaking for all who loved her. She knows she is loved, and you have had 13 years of wonderful memories from which you can draw comfort. She will run and play with all the other pups at the Rainbow Bridge, and you will never forget her. I wish you peace during this difficult time. Sincerely Jacqui |
