| ♥Trained by my pups♥ Donating YT 500 Club Member | I have read the whole story on how rusty came to live with you. And it was a very heartwarming story. When reading you lost him I had many tears. That being said I think you are doing a very nice thing giving another senior dog a great home. You and your wife will now be blessed with new memories laughs and smiles from the newest member to the family. Congrats And rusty is playing with all the great dogs on the other side waiting for all of us

| Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Thanks, everybody, for the continued kind words! Lucy had her first day in our house yesterday, and it was a qualified success. Eddie snapped at her once on a walk, but she didn't retaliate or cower. She learned to give him some space. The rest of the day went well, though Jillie is still trying to figure out her place. She hasn't warned up to Lucy, but there's no hostility. All dogs can pass each other without issue in the hallways, and I felt comfortable leaving them home alone for short periods of time. They did great. Eddie wimped out on our morning walk today, so I didn't push it. Jillie and Lucy went for a nice walk and did well together. Lucy didn't trample Jillie on the narrow trails, and she followed Lucy while unleashed a couple of times. Both have great recalls and sprint back to me when I think they've wandered far enough. I'm definitely learning a lot about the behavior of different sexed dogs in the house! Lucy is going to have to adjust to our sleeping schedule! I work a 3-midnight shift and stay up with the dogs till 2 or 3 a.m. This morning, she was tap-tap-tapping on our wood floors at 6 or 7. I got up and let her out and she went back to sleep while I slept till 11. All in all, not bad, but she's used to being an early-to-bed and early-to-rise dog.

| I am soooooo happy for you! It looks like she fits right in with your gang. And no way is she replacing Rusty -- just like you said, you had a "slot" open for her ![]() I am so happy for you guys. I often think I'd love to adopt an older bigger dog one day, so I don't have to deal with the rambunctious puppy phase with a 50+lb dog, lol.
