Gail, I am so sorry you have so much on your plate all at once, and you are not getting the support you need to treat. It certainly would try anyone's patience.

I for one think they matter!! They are your babies whether they be yorkies, a mutt or in your case BRT (which I had never seen or heard of until seeing the pics of your beauties) I have a yorkie, a biewer, a kitty and an Australian Shepherd and each one is as important as the other.
I hope and pray that they are able to get the medication needed to treat Zoey and fast. It has to be extremely frustrating to know what is wrong, what the treatment needed is and not be able to get the drug to start the treatment. My prayers are with you and all of your babies during this trying time.

Thank you all for your responses. It is more than frustrating. Last night in our garden room a bug flew in , I dont' know if it was a mosquitoe or not. I freaked out, yelling and screaming at my husband we have to kill it kill it now!. We have a dog that is infectious, oh dear lord.

Magic can't go onto to heartworm until we see what his liver panel says, and so too Razzle for his thyroid panel. My vet says Gail don't worry, the heartworm med's will kill any infestation up to 30=45 days. We shall do our best!

Well at least my call to Executive Director of VEC garnered some results, one from HR, and one from Dr Norris. Of course when I called back to Dr Norris he was out!. The HR person was very receptive to what I had to say about Zoey's treatement,, or lack thereof!

Today for the first time Razzle, yelped out at the blood draw. OM|G. I said oh dear one it's okay; that's your first yelp, you'll be fine. Dr Jack said oh dear, he's never yelped before? I said no... he said,,, RAzz you are a lovely man, such a good boy, give me a kiss.... and Razz reached up placed his paws on Dr Jacks chest and kissed him!

If they can't come up with any, I know it's a long shot, but Ellie's vet office had some last I knew. It would add to the expense, but if you have to come to the US to do it, then that is probably better than waiting too long. Response from OVC yet?

I'm thinking the thyroid panel will take awhile to get back. For Magic, I'm still clueless. That all seems pretty odd, esp. if he is still feeling well.

Stillno answers Crystal. Where is Ellies office? No response from OVC yet, other than they want to talk to my vet, and can't talk to me.

Magic is having full liver panel done, and then we shall see what next step is.

Razzle has completely stolen my heart. He has the most wonderful personality and disposition, and he is simply gorgeous. I understand why Dr. Jack is so captivated by him. He is more beautiful and sweet in person than you can possibly describe him.

I'm glad Dr. Norris contacted you, and hopefully once you talk with him, you can come to a resolution on Zoey's treatment plan.

I pray that the love you share with your babies overcomes any of the health issues that you are facing with them. Your love of them is a powerful force, and I really believe it will make all the difference.

Did they end up starting doxy then? If yes, then the Immiticide wouldn't be given yet anyway.

Her office is 1:15 minutes from the Blue Water and probably around the same from the Ambassador.

If they can't get it in, let me know and I'll get with them about it.

I can imagine how frustrating this has to be. We expect when our babies (big or little) are sick that they get the treatment they need right away. I hope and pray that you get some results soon and some good news.

Nope the specialist has not deigned to return my calls or emails. Except unfortunately late today after I contacted the Executive Director about a "complaint" . When I called back 10 minutes later he was gone".

But Crystal I want the doxy, and my general vet is prepared to start her on this with heartguard for 2-3 mths prior to the immiticide.

Why doesn't he just go ahead with it?

General vets do heartworm treatment around here. They are more than qualified to make decisions about giving doxy and/or ivermectin. He doesn't have to wait for a specialist to decide. He's a doctor too. Just tell him you want it. At least then this wait period will be accomplishing something then...

Yes it will be done. Spoke with him today about it, I will get the meds on Friday when I bring Razz back in.

I think a month on doxy is pretty standard. So they have a couple weeks to find a darn supplier. Not sure why the specialist wasn't calling you back without you talking to the manager though. Something sounds off.

How frustrating this must be for you! It's so hard to have just one little one sick to worry about, but three is more than I can imagine. I'm sorry the vets aren't being more cooperative or responsive on the HW treatment! I can't offer you any advice there, but I'm praying Zoey can start treatment very soon.

Razzle's doctor however sounds wonderful. I can picture the scene above and it brought a smile to my face. Have to love a doctor who understands Razz's pain and fear and acknowledges it in such a loving way. Is this your general vet? Can he not help with the HW treatment for Zoey? I apologize if this has already been answered in this thread - I just don't know much about HW treatment.

Razzle is such a sweetheart. I wonder what made him yelp? Poor boy.

I know you will feel better when you get the meds started for Zoey, and when you can start Magic and Razz on their preventatives.
