| Schnauzers? I have a Yorkie, mini schnauzie and a Schnorkie-a hybrid mix of the two... I noticed several other people here have some type of schnauzer either a mix, mini, standard, or giant (okay I saw one giant) so I was wonder if all the Schnauzer lovers of all types would step out the shadows and let it be known LOL-you can see my mixed pack in my avatar and on my page in my albums...I'd love to know who you are so I can see yours too. How many of you have a type of schnauzer too? Also any of you on or know of a schnauzie forum like YT but ugh ye for schnauzies?

| Great thread, I have wondered too how many schnauzer owners are on YT. I have a mini schnauzer boy, Niko, who is 15 ½. He has been such an awesome boy, and it saddens me to think that he's likely getting closer to his "expiration date". Actually he is still doing pretty good, though has lost his hearing and is losing sight. My other 4 fur-girls wuv him and give him lots of kisses. I also had a schnauzer girl Sachi, who died suddenly 3 years ago at the age of 8. It was grieving over her loss that lead me to YorkieTalk, and within a month I got my Yorkie Tiki. Learning what a joy these little ones can be, well that led to 3 months later getting Morkie Meika, and a year after that I got 2 more Morkies Kayla and Karlee. So that's my pack for now (and I must quit looking at puppies and dreaming)

| Now that's an incredible first response to this post! I love how the schnauzer personality is so distinct and different from Yorkies yet they seem to mesh so well! Breed inherent traits are petty strong in these two breeds IMO. Does you schnauzie give the "schnauzer glare" to the Yorkies? LOl I love that about them! I'm sorry for your loss, and amazed how it lead to such a great pack! Quote:

| Yes, she is deemed (cutesy term for description not technical unless you follow German standards for whites) a "true white or pure blond or pure/true yellow" her mom is a platinum white and her dad a chocolate white (chocolate white is the German standard for whites). the description of chocolate describes a black nose and dark features like on a black dog but with white coat and the platinum refers to a grey or silver reflection off the white coat ends also with black dog features. White mini schnauzies are not accepted in the breed club here but they are AKC accepted princess Monster is registered here an in Germany now. In Germany whites (what we call chocolate whites here-the only white accepted by most white schnauzer breeders who are serious in their breeding to standards) are considered Black without pigmentation. I was refereed to the Beers to get Princess by a breeder close to me who had retired from showing mini's in Germany...she knew the linage of some of the mini schnauzers the Beers breed-but they breed from multiple lines both American and German. I recommend them also as great breeders in they breed for health and temperament and conformity in saying they don't breed undersized dogs they believe a toy breed comes small enough despite their name of teapup...they breed primarily for pet quality dogs otherwise they do not offer their show or breeding quality dogs to the public...but their personal beliefs don't allow them to hinder others right to become breeders-controversial to many. Also they breed multiple breeds, in a large kennel, and also breed quality "designer breeds" meaning hypoallergenic hybrids, and they ship pups. So many may not like what they do- I can say their mini schnauzers and shih tzu lines are wonderful! My experience with them and in trusting whom refereed me to them has been nothing but wonderful and they are an exception to the issues many may see as controversial-I judge on an individual basis they pass. Despite their practices many may dislike the treatment of their dogs and their breeding practices are responsible and to be respected. If you are looking for a responsible and reputable white miniature schnauzer breeder Karin Rice is the foremost American authority on them-she's very responsible in her breeding practices, breeds whites not color mutations or off colors created by mixing or gene manipulation and if she doesn't have one she'll point you towards someone who has the same practices she does. She offers a lot of history and education about them on her site. http://ricesminiatureschnauzers.com/page16.html

| My first dog I ever owned was a black miniature Schnauzer named Betsy. She was a beautiful little dog I got from a wonderful breeder in Mass. She was with me for fourteen years and introduced me to the wonders of dog ownership. She had a great standoffish personality and was a little aloof but also very loving.

| I am also a schnauzer lover, just turned yorkie lover too 4yrs. ago. We have 2 mini schnauzers and 2 yorkies. The schnauzers are Tina and Lexi and the yorkies are Kayla and Dudley. I lost the first schnauzer I ever had to diabetes 2007. That was Max. Then we lost Mandy 2008 to cancer. Like to have killed me. Mandy was my baby girl. You know the schnauzer talk? Mandy had been talking since she was about 8wks. old. She would walk behind you just talking. Loved her to pieces. After she passed we got Lexi. We bought her from a vet that shows them, so she is show quality. She has gained so much weight though I am really worried about her. Tina is no bigger than my yorkies. I would put picures of them on here but I have never learned how to do that. Computar saavy I am not. lol!!!! |

| I'll post pics of my Niko boy soon, and hope to see everybody elses schnauzer pics too. Niko is a bit taller than some mini's and weighs 20-22 lbs. He is salt & pepper colored with docked tail but non-cropped ears. I have done his grooming all these years, so am very used to the schnauzer cut. It's no wonder that now when I groom my Morkies, they end up with a somewhat schnauzer look.

| 14lbs (she's a mini) but honestly she could loose a solid 2 pounds maybe...sh'es still packing some winter fat LOL...I'm in my third trimester and have been having some (not serious just annoying) medical issues: headaches, edema, etc and I haven't been able to walk them so much and take them out in the yard for as much exercise as they need lately...we're compensating but I'm sure you all know how schnauzers are prone to obesity...we're feeding Taste of the Wild the foul but I need to increase her RAW diet a bit too for the summer...we're going to build an agility course in the yard.
