| We have a 55 gallon tank with three tiger barbs a betta and a bunch of other commuity schooling fish a trio of tetras, danios, guppies, chinese alga eaters, catfish, plattys, angels. We have plants, rocks and wood oh and an ugly fake skull my bf and son added ugghhh!!! It has been my experience that Tiger barbs do like to school and they can stat to nip at your Betta if your Betta doesnt have a place to "hide". Our Betta likes one of the plants. Fish tanks are soooo peaceful to look at. I LOVE ours!

| We always kept our Betta seperate, but I guess they can be put with other nonBetta fish. We learned something interesting though! We loved to keep those little Brazilian puffers. Well, the tank was rather small so rather than an algea eater, we got a snail..... PUFFERS EAT SNAILS!!! The puffers killed that poor little guy and tried to eat him! It was like the Discovery Channel in our fish tank!

| Sometimes the Barbs might actually pic on the Bettas. It really depends on the fish themselves and sometimes they can live together very well OR you can get a mean one that pics all of the time. Bettas dont do well with other fish with long tails. Girls can be housed together, but only one male per tank. I used to breed bettas and actually had a few sets of fry grow up to adults. Breeding bettas is VERY tricky!!!

| My husband had puffers for a while and they ADORE snails and they are good for them. At the time we had multi tanks and he would would let them breed in one tank and pull out the snails to feed the puffers. If you look close you can actually SEE the front teeth on the puffers...I was alwawys scared to put my hand in there! LOL

I thought i was the only one that pet my fish! lol. I also had a tragic ending to my other beta. His name was Steve (my best friend had a fish named red and i got a blue one i was going to name blue but decided on steve from blues clues instead) But he was traveling across the country with us in one of the cups they come from the pet store in and on the 3rd day we stopped at the grand canyon for like 45 min and he boiled to death . I was very very sad so my husband got me a new one named Killer. We eat breakfast together every morning i want to get him a huge tank and some friends but i get lazy and dont want to clean his little bowl lol. Good luck with the other fishies i hope they dont get eaten!!

![]() ![]() Boiled to death? poor fishy...ummm well 3 of my fish died Well they all got along great..and everything was fine but i got a little filter and i dont think it was working properly and all the tiger barb fish died..i had 3...so now the betta and the guppy are left...idk i dont think i am good with keeping tropical fish. The betta is low mantenance so i think that is why he is still alive..i will just stay with the betta for a while cause adding those barbs made the tank get dirty faster and i dont like cleaning it that much..thats why i got the filter..but im going to have to replace it...i think the betta likes being alone anyway. he seems happier
