We had a huge cook out for dd's last birthday. After, the kids played hide and go seek. We're having a pool party at the end of school. Dd and I were talking about it....then she tells me..."know what, everyone keeps talking about from my birthday party...how much fun that game hide and go seek was". ...like it was something new. These kids have no clue what it means to play outside for hours on end....and still whine when their parents made them come in.

I remember "playing" Barbies on someone front porch...you'd lug all your barbie stuff down to their house, and spend hours setting up Barbie's pad. I remember having a transitter radio....that was my Barbie's console stereo

Just dawned on me...I forgot to teach them....ollie, ollie, in come free for hide and go seek.

I have to share a funny story. Of course my funny stories always get buried so LISTEN UP.
Went to my great-nephew's birthday party last night. My sister is out of town on business, so I took her son, Shawn to the party. Luke is opening presents and Shawn kept saying "open mine last" (he's 10, but high functioning autistic) Anyway, Luke opens his present, which was a t-ball set. My neice (Lukes' mom) makes a big deal about it and says "Did you go with daddy to pick this out for Luke?" and Shawn announces to the whole crowd: "No it came from my house. I'm too big for it so we gave it to Luke" My other sister and I were on the floor laughing. I said Joan is going to kill her husband! Obviously he forgot about the party and had to be creative! It was soooooooo funny. I forgot how bad they can embarrass you!

During a heavy rain...the street and ditch would flood....we'd play in that. Except the Worley kids....nope...they'd catch worms playing in that(their mother's words)....nobody I ever knew caught worms, well, except for earthworms any way.

We used to play Block hide and go seek. Like 30 kids, you could hide anywhere. sometimes we'd forget to look for some of the kids! I was so excited to have a girl, thought I was having a Barbie buddy. My sister and I played for hours and hours. Megan hated Barbies! She'd say "what do you do with them" and I'd say we change their clothes, and they go fun places, and have dates and shop, and stuff like that. Her answer: WHY???? Well, maybe I'll have a granddaughter some day and she'll play with me. I used to still be sitting in Megan's room playing and she would be off doing something else.

Brutal kid honesty at it's best.

One time...my SIL was out of town, and nephew (who was 6) had a birthday party...so my brother goes to the toy store, buys present, and grabs Sesame Street wrapping paper....my nephew has a cow. Sesame Street? You bought Sesame Street??? That's for babies. Brother says look the kid'll never pay any attention...here sign the card. So Nick says his name and then writes....Sorry about the wrapping paper, my dad picked it out.

Dd didn't hate Barbie, but she and her friends did not play with Barbies like we did. Think I may have told ya....we cleaned out the motherlode Barbie bin.....16 nekkied Barbies and 1 Ken in shorts. Told hubby....Ken's got his harem, dressed just the way he likes them.
I used to re-dress those Barbies....five minutes after....Dd had 'em all nekkied again. Apparently we had nudist Barbie...I just didn't know it.

Loved Barbies...played with them everywhere...best memory was whoever got their Christmas tree put up first, we would all go play barbies under the tree before it got filled with presents.... thinking back not real sure why that was so fun...but it was!
Playing in the rain was fun...we would always have 'straw' races in the water that would run down the sides of the street after a big rain with drinking straws!

Teri that was funny. Kids, ya never know what they are going to say. We have had our share of "family secrets" revealed.

Come to think of it we would be outside in our bathing suits during the rain. We would have neighborhood campouts. Not with real tents. They would make them out of blankets over the clothes line. We always had Jiffy Pop, and I don't think anyone ever made it the whole night.

How about going to the drive - in in your PJ's?

Any chance you were playing with BM's boob smushing brother? My brothers had GI joes. Barbie liked him better than Ken...think it was the tough guy scar...that and his feet could turn completely around.

PS I called GI boyfriend...Mike. My brother's name was Joe, Barbie didn't want a boyfriend called after my brother, for land's sake.

We did that. The only movie I remember seeing with my parents at the drive in....was Bonnie and Clyde....wholesome family entertainment.

As teen agers we used to go to....only we'd sit on the hood of the car. I saw Saturday Night Fever at the drive in. With Mike W.

The last drive- in here did not show family entertainment....not that anyone was watching anyway.

GI Joe was a manly man. My brother and his friends would never let Barbie ride in the Jeep and her car was was always being blown up in the war.

PS Barbie was always wearing an evening gown in the war with her permanent high heel feet and the fancy straight pins for earrings.

That was me, all boys in the Hood, did have one girl but they were always at church, no kidding everyday, so you can imagine how fun she was. Probably why I still, would rather play with the boys.
We had this huge pine tree forest behind my house so we had paths cleared and forts everywhere, that was the coolest. And was just thinking yesterday, surprised I never had a tick... ANYHOW... ( off topic)

But I did do the Barbie thing with gfriends I'd have over, just didn't let the guys know anything bout' that.
