And I love her proportions - she's very nicely sculpted as to length of arms and legs to body, size of head, etc. The Ideal Shirley has such large, long arms and short, small legs to her body and head. Ideal ST is still my favorite overall though as her face is so much more animated looking and her eyes are much more realistic looking to me - that hazel color instead of the more dead brown look of the DM's eyes. And, of course, the Ideal ST was my first real wanted collectible doll when I started doll collecting back in '81. If you could find one back then, they usually weren't in very good shape and started at $600.00 - $800.00. So I have just wanted wanted that doll for so long and I had actually never seen a good one in person - even at doll shows or when I went to look at one for sale in the area - in as good shape as the one I got. Local ladies with good ones just didn't offer them for sale. So when I got my DM ST, I was thrilled because overall she was so pretty especially compared to the Love, Dreams and Whatever that other one was called that was kind of orange colored. And then the DM ST came with all of those clothes you could get every other month or so which was a nice plus. Have you seen the DM ST Stand Up & Cheer dress? It is empire waisted, very short and full and just perfectly done! I've never even put it on one of my dolls yet as I'm waiting for just the right moment to do that. It is done in a light organdy-like fabric and light and fluffy with a huge skirt, attached petticoat, matching bow and comes with white shoes and socks. Best one of those dresses I've ever seen offered for sale. |
