If Target does not support the military when it comes to fund raising/charaties, that's one thing,but to ask someone to leave their store based on their career IS discrimination. This is no different than if a nurse or doctor walked into the store wearing scrubs or a police officer in his/her uniform. Hmmmm, I have just never heard of a corporation refusing service based on someone'e employment.

This happened in Lubbock, but has since been corrected. Mgmt had told the employees that men in military uniforms were not allowed to collect money at the store as in their fund raisers and one of the employees misunderstood the instructions.

Long story short, you can shop in Lubbock at Target in your military uniform.

Thanks for clearing this up...I had a hard time believing the original story..I figured there had to be something that was missunderstood. And this is why everyone needs to take a step back and not immediately believe everything they read on the internet and then automatically make a decision based of of it.

That seems very strange for Target. I am actually a Team Leader there and we have no such policy and have people in the military in our store all the time in uniform. The only way someone would be asked to leave the store is if they were causing a problem or being inappropriate. I would ask to have spoken to a manager because all Targets around the nation have the same exact policy.

I assume that most people do that? I certainly didn't jump to any conclusions based on this thread alone, although it did prompt me to look into it further (in ways other than web searches). It actually seems like they are anit-EVERYTHING. I'd rather give my money to a company that is actually involved with and eager to support charitable causes. Personal choice.

He was asked to leave because the employee misunderstood the instructions, so the orginal story was correct, but now it has been fixed...
