YT 2000 Club Member | internal Heart defibulator recall I just got a phone call from my mother that me dad's heart defibulator is one of the models on the new recall list! He will have to go in and have a new one put in, his doctor is calling him in the next few day's to get it set up. please pray that nothing goes wrong for my dad, I am so worried now. He has to have this device to sometimes shock his heart back into rhythm, so this is scarry for us all. |

YT 2000 Club Member | Thank you ladies.I went to church today and lit a candel and prayed. I am so worried about him. He had quadruple by pass almost 11 years ago and I was up in cleveland University hospital in pre term labor. He was in Wade Park Veterans Hospital just down the street. I felt bad that I could not be their for him! My mom would come over and visit me and let me know how he was.He just got this defibulator put in a year ago and he questioned it at the time because of the other recall. The company sent a certified letter explaining that they have to be replaced because the leads going to heart can fracture. If this happens then 1, It could give a jolt to strong that it can kill the person or 2, If the heart needs the jolt then it wont connect at all and that too could lead to death! |

| I will say a prayer for your dad's procedure to go well with no complications. Hugs to you! It's so scary, but thank goodness they've come such a long way in treating heart disease.

| My prayers and thoughts are with you and yours! Do you know the name of the device? My husband has one too, it's a Medtronic. Last edited by Korkie; 10-17-2007 at 11:25 PM. |

| I just got off the phone with Medtronic. They said my husbands device was one of the ones in question They said the one my husband has is 97% working "whatever that means" They like the number 99%. They told me to call his cardiologist in the morning, which I fully intend on doing! Thank you so much for the heads up and the best to your dad!! Last edited by Korkie; 10-18-2007 at 02:19 PM. |
