Amen Amber lv!!!!!!!!!! |
Amber my hat is off to you!!! You gutsy gal for speaking your mind! This is why I take so many breaks from YT! When I am on YT I don't always post, but I read through the threads that interest me. Then Wham! Some one gets slammed for their opinion or for asking a question. So I close out of that thread and go on to another. When there have been to many "Whammys" I just sign off of YT! That is how I deal with it. I come on to YT to catch up with friends, OK and see who is selling really cute clothes. There will always be those people around that have to slam others no matter what. The one thing I have noticed since I joined is that, the people that make life hard for others usually end up going away. As adults we all need to remember what we have taught our children, at least this is what I have taught mine. 1. Your opinion is just that. An opinion. It is yours. No one can take it from you.(except your mother :D Just kidding) 2. How do you learn? By asking questions!! There is no such thing as a dumb question. And think of how many people you help out by asking the question, who were afraid to ask themselves. So on that happy note I leave you with this, the girls and I heard this on TV and it makes me laugh. Every one just needs to calm down.......Take a break..........Eat a cookie!!!:D |

I think what you said is a good idea, but I would just keep an eye to make sure that somebody does say it tactfully. When we get passionate, we sometimes don't remember tact. If nobody does tell that person that breeding such a small dog can be dangerous for the dog, the puppies, etc., then I would jump in and say it. |
Amber I am glad you brought this up. It is something I have been thinking about a lot lately. When I first came here to YT, it was great. Everyone was so nice and there were very few heated topics or debates. I admit I don't post as often anymore because it seems there are so many heated topics now. I miss YT. I think everyone is entitled their opinion and should share it. However you should consider the person's feelings and do it in a constructive non insulting or threatening way. As for being sensitive, I guess many would call me sensitive because I have seen numerous threads where things were said to the OP that if it were me I would have taken offense as well. I think the two people here on YT that I admire most is Mardelin and Pat (yorkie rose). They are very passionate about the breed. They do their best to help everyone. And while they may disagree with someone they do it in a respectful manner. They keep their cool and calmly try to educate the person without it seeming like they are bashing or insulting the person. This is more than I can say for others who have completely lost many times are have down right insulted or bashed someone. I think if we all strive to be more like these two wonderful people, YT would be so much better off. Bottom line, I love YT and I love the people here. Just please think it over carefully what you are going to type. The goal is to educate and if you go about it in a rude or insulting way, it gets you no where other than in a big fight. But if you stay calm about it and try your best to educate without insulting or being rude, you will accomplish so much more. I know I myself would consider taking advice from someone being nice to me even if I disagreed with it rather than I would ever consider taking advice from someone being rude to me. |

Someone else said it's your dog and you can do with it what you want.....I'm not buying that. Once you post something as (IMO) drastic as my 2 1/2 pound girl is pregnant on an open forum and it becomes public........well, you're pretty much asking for a lot of hard comments. I don't know of anyone on this forum that would not be upset by that. And as you said God has given us dominion over His creatures......but, alot of people just see them as possessions. |

As a school teacher, I have been in similar situations often. I've seen and heard parents acting terribly irresponsibly, even abusive, to their children. Try being tactful about that! In fact, if I didn't report abuse, I could have been fired. On YT, it's not against the law to not say anything, but it is irresponsible (in my opinion). That mother can die, the puppies can die, they can be born terribly damaged, etc. On the other hand, 17 people don't have to call the person an idiot. PMing is a wonderful thing also. Then, nobody is embarrassed. But, if you don't feel that way, or you don't want to say anything or even if you do feel it's not our business - fine. Somebody will surely come along and say it anyway. |
I just found this thread, as I don't think I was a member when it was started and I just want to give you a thumbs up. Thanks girl for posting this. I have been on here I think for just about 2 months and I feel I see so much of this. Hats off to you to speak your mind. I have wanted to start a thread like this myself many times but decided not to...why...to avoid any controversy. I am not one to stand down on my feelings or beliefs but I am one that picks her own battles and like to keep a peace when I am on here. Others on the other side of the spectrum don't act much like that. They argue and make people feel like they are 2ft tall. Anyways, again, thank you for posting this as I really appreciate it! :) |

Besides the tone of the posts, I agree with the quote above, why do there have to be so many posts saying exactly the same thing.....In a recent (and typical) thread involving breeding with well over 100 total posts, two-thirds of the posts were telling the person they shouldn't have been breeding, etc., etc. I think if they haven't gotton the point in the first few posts it is just wasting everyone's time. This is just my opinion. :) I will keep reading YT for the valuable info, enjoy the fruitful and kind debates, and ignore the rest. |

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: Past generations taught their children to be polite, to have manners, to have patience, and be tolerant and understanding of others. Needless to say, I'm trying to make up for what my parents didn't teach me.:p |
I agree with you! When Baby got pregnant, I heard it big time! I was so close to not saying anything, just cause I knew what was going to happen! But I did cause I knew I would need help. Most people come here for help and advice, not to be put down or ridiculed! I'm sure everyone will really flip out when they hear I'm going to breed Baby again one more time! Ohh Well, MY DOG, MY CHOICE! Having puppies has been the greatest gift I could have ever asked for! These puppies are more loved and more spoiled then you will ever know! So when you hear that Baby is preggo again, please don't flip out! lol |
