please keep me in your thoughts I know I am new here, but please keep me in your thoughts. I am going for surgery on the 12th. I have 2 kidney stones, one on each side. They are 2.5 cm and 2 cm, I guess that is rather large. They say they usually measure them in mm not cm. There is some blockage. I am currently taking some meds for the pain, but they don't completely help. The doctor can only do one side at a time, so will need at least 2 surgeries. He wants to try what is suppose to be just a minor surgery first and he hopes that will work to remove the stone on the right. He is not really sure it will work. If it doesn't work, He will have to do what he says is a major surgery. He will have to go in thru my back to remove them and I will be in the hospital for a few days, I guess with a tube in my back. I am hoping that it doesn't come to that. Luckily me and aurora will go to my mom's house while I heal, then as soon as I am ready I will go back home. If you would, please keep me in your thoughts and hope this minor surgery is successful and goes over smoothly. Thanks Roxanne(aurora's mommy) |
Sending you our best! That doesn't sound like any fun. I'm sure it will be wonderful to be rid of them, though! I hope Aurora gives you some extra kisses. |
thank you. Yes I will be glad to have this done and over with. I been in pain for months but I put off going to doc because I have no insurance. Finally got so bad I went to the er. Went to the er on the night of aug 14, left early the morning of the 15th after being there for 9 hours. They figured out the problem and gave me a name of a urlogist(prob not spelled right). That doc didn't want to see me cuz of no insurnace. One hospital he suggested refused to see me because the er I went to wasn't in their network. The doc also suggested u of m hospital and I thank god that he did. U of M was awesome. They even told me about their charity care program. I had to be denied by other programs first. I tried the state and they say since I am single with no kids(aurora doesn't count to them..LOL) I have to make less than $200/month to qualify. Can someone even live on less than $200 a month?? I got insurance from the county next BUT it won't cover surgery. Its nice I will have insurance, but the surgery would be more than I can afford and thats what I needed help with. U of M was already suppose to have sent the forms to apply for their assistance. Unfortunately my grandfather passed away, so I was not home to get the forms. They were nice enough to fax them to my mom's house and let me fax them back with everything they needed. I sent it on aug 22nd and they said i wouldn't hear anything until at least the middle of the next week. My doc's assistant called the next day and says she will talk to them at charity care. She said she would have an answer by friday or monday at the latest. She calls the next day, aug 24th which is my bday and gave me the best birthday gift ever...I was approved for assistance and my surgery date is sept 12th. she said I was the fastest she ever saw anyone approved. Just knowing that I have that assistance has helped alot. The stress about worrying about the costs was making things worse. Now I just have the stress about my very first surgery. I know in all honesty things are moving fast for getting it taken care of, but seems to be going so slow. Will just be thrilled to have this done and over. Just worry about Aurora while I am sore and healing, she loves to always be on my lap and sleeping on me. She will sometimes jump on me as well. I don't think she will understand that she has to be easy on mommy. Hopefully being at my mom's, she will be too busy playing with my mom's yorkies and not jumping on me...LOL Sorry I rambled on so much |
Sending well wishes and speedy recovery thoughts and prayers your way! :justahug: |

We'll be thinking of you and praying for the best!!! |
Thoughts and prayers are coming your way! I hope you have a speedy recovery! |
thank you megan I really apperciate how kind everyone is here. |
Hope and Pray All Will Be Well.. I am praying for you that all will turn out well and you will be better than ever very quickly...Many prayers and thoughts are being said right now and until we hear from you about your excellent recovery. |
surgery I wish you all the best..they have these minimally invasive surgeries that break of stones etc..I hope it works for you. |
unforunately he says he is having to actually take them out not break them up. My ex boyfriend's father had treatment were he was in water and the used ultra sonic waves, I think, to break them up. Doc said they were too large for that. At this point, as much as I am scared of surgery, I want it done and over with. I am just really hoping that this minor surgery works so he doesn't have to actually go thru the back. He is not sure it will work though :( I have to see how this procedure goes before they even plan when they will do the left side. |
Praying for you!! |
I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.... Good luck! And please please, keep your YT family posted on your progress. |
I'm so glad that you didn't feel "too new" to ask for our prayers. Although some people on here know each other personally, others never ever meet each other in person. And yet..... everyone is so kind here. My thoughts and prayers are with you for a speedy recovery. And afterward, please be sure to let everyone know that you're okay..... |
I'm so sorry to hear of your kidney stones. I know they are horribly painful. I've have two surgeries and 9 lithotripsies. I still have 18 stones of varying sizes in my kidneys at last count, but they don't move much, so I'm in pretty good shape.;) As laruenr said our little ones seem to know when something is up with us. I'll add prayers that Aurora will be a perfect little girl while you're recovering. I'll be thinking of you and sending up prayers that you'll recover quickly.:) |
prayers I sure hope no one feels like they can not join in because they are new..we were all new once..and I started posting the first day, because "I GOTTA BIG MOUTH!!!..everyone was very welcoming. Asking for prayers is a privilege to the person or persons you ask..it is not a chore that you put upon people. People who sincerely pray for God blessings, help and mercy want to know of anyone in need of prayers..and write their name down to remember..people depend on each other... Another great thing is...you will find many others who have the same problem and so willing to share their feelings...a burden is a lot easier to carry by several then one... |
good luck ... I like to put my faith in modern medicine so I hope it works great fro you. I am glad someone will take care of your baby for you ... |
medicine I think it is very wise to have faith in modern medicine..after all God gave physicians these gifts of knowledge...Luke was a physician and disciple., he handled both jobs extremely well. |
Roxanne, good wishes coming your way for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. |

I finally got up to my mom's house, tonight, since I am staying here until surgery and then after to heal. We decide to run to kmart to check out their clearance sale. I was in pain how it was because car rides make the stones move more, but it was nice to just get out of the house. We are walking looking at all the marked down garden stuff, when I spill on a HUGE puddle of water and fall right on my back. The rain came in and puddled by the door to the outside garden area and they never thought to check back there. They were asking if I was hurt and it was hard to say if I hurt from the fall or the stones, so my mom explained about how I was already in pain and why. I seemed fine, but as I walked thru the store I started to feel sick to my stomach. Then the dizziness started, I had to actually sit on the floor a few times. My mom wanted me to go to the hospital and get checked out, since the dizziness, sick feeling and such started. The pain got worse as well. I had plans tonight and tomorrow, I couldn't let people down so I told her no to the hospital. I had to shop barefoot because my shoes were so wet they were slippery and my shorts were soaked, they looked like I peed my pants. My kathy van zeeland purse was soaked, but thank god it didn't soak all the way thru. I spent the whole night with pain and dizziness. My mom and my ex boyfriend are concerned about the stones being jarred and moving so they cause more blockage. One woman that worked there just kept saying maybe the fall will jar my stones so they can pass. We kept saying no they can't be passed, they are 2.5 cm that is why I am having surgery. Then as we walked away from her, she said I hope your stones pass soon. I am feeling sore and afraid I will wake up bruised in the morning, but more afraid of the stones moving and causing a worse blockage. I was so close to this coming to an end and then this happens. |
