| 2008 Elections As you know, the elections are coming up soon! I thought it would be nice for us to have educated, political commentary and debate on the candidates (what we like, what we don't like, etc.) PLEASE remember, sometimes it is best to agree to disagree! Please do NOT be rude or callous! Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. This is a place for us to talk and share our feelings and you may choose to use it or lose it, no harm done! Also, please make sure you research ALL candidates before voting and vote for the one that YOU feel best choice! Let's try to stop indifference. So, let the discussion begin! Here are some random resources I pulled from the web (feel free to add more): http://www.vote-smart.org/ http://news.yahoo.com/fc/US/2008_Presidential_Election http://projects.washingtonpost.com/2...al-candidates/ http://www.ontheissues.org/default.htm http://www.selectsmart.com/president/2008.html http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/index.asp (Oh, and let's try to keep this thread bumped up.)

| Great sites.....VERY educational for everyone no matter what party they support. I agree, lets keep it kind and remember everyone is entiltled to their own opinion. After all what a boring world it would be if we all agreed on the same thing. Thank you for posting these sites! Most I knew about but a few were new ones to me.

| This thread scares the heck out of me. I hope we can be civil and polite. I for one do not understand how two people can have such drastically different views of the world and the candidates. We live in the same country, and have access to the same news sources yet we come up with different opinions. I'm all up for a lively debate but the first time I see someone being nasty or lying to prove a point I'm out of here. So here is my opinion. I am favoring Rudy G for the Republican candidate and Edwards for the Democratic candidate. I like the fire I see in their eyes and the way they seem to care about what they are saying. I also like where they stand on the abortion issue. |

| Thank you for the sites. I didn't know of any of them. Honestly I'm afraid to comment on candidates for fear of being slammed.

| I think the country needs a change and is ready for a woman presdent. And I believe that if she chooses Obama as her running mate she will get both the womens vote and the black vote. Providing that Hillary wins the nomination. I think that Obama would be good, but the democratic party will be hesitant to nominate him for fear that there are still to many racists and he won't be able to get the votes. I don't believe that voting based on the individual politician platform matters, they never do what they say anyway. So it basically comes down to voting for the party that is in line with your individual needs. The rich will vote republican, the poor will vote democrat, and those in the middle that went from "riches to rags" during the Bush dministration will vote democrat. JMO PS We could do a YT poll and see how close we come to the actual results. First for the Primary. then for the actual election. |

We all know they are not going to change the abortion laws, we all know they are not going to change the gun controls, we all know that the immigation issues will never be resolved, we all know that the war will end when they run out of funding. I'm poor, so the democratic party is more in tuned to my needs. If I were rich I would probably vote republican because they give tax breaks to the wealthy. | |

| Jeanie makes good points and for years I have threatened to join the Libertarians. Get government out of my business! I just want a president that can understand what the MAJORITY of the people want and act on it. I also want this petty arguing back and forth in the House and the Senate to stop. The idea is to work together for the common good isn't it? I work in a hospital so I'm a bit afraid of Hilliary's health care plans and I wonder if O'Bama is experienced enought to be a president. I'm also afraid that if elected he would be assasinated by the KKK. Sigh I hate what the world is coming to. |
