| ![]() I just checked my inbox and this is what was there... I'm a little peeved that the mayor didn't take the time to respond personally, but I am glad that someone responded. I'm also glad to hear that someone has actually been assigned to take care of it and that it was forwarded to the chief of police. At least someone read the e-mail. I do wish this person would have let me know if they were able to ID the specific policeman I was talking about in the first e-mail, though ![]() I'll update again once I hear from the Sgt. Good Afternoon Ms. R------, I am an Inspector with the Cornwall Community Police Service and I am responsible for police operations. As such, the officers who attended the accident the other night indirectly fall under my area of responsibility. The email you sent to the Mayor was forwarded to the Chief of Police. The Chief is quite concerned and has asked me to review this matter. We have a Professional Standards Officer, Sergeant B-- B-----, who is responsible for investigating public complaints and issues of officer performance. He works completely separate and independent from our front line police officers. I will be assigning Sergeant B----- to review this matter and he will be contacting you in the very near future. I understand your desire to remain anonymous, which we will certainly respect. However, Sergeant B----- may still wish to speak with you to obtain and or clarify some of the details that you’ve relayed in your email. I would also like to reassure you that your age has no bearing on how serious we take the concerns you have raised. I believe it has taken a lot of courage for you to come forward, and I thank you for doing so. The Cornwall Community Police Service strives for professionalism and integrity and therefore, this type of feedback is extremely serious and important to us. Although the next person you will hear from is Sergeant B-----, you are free to call or email me at any point if you have any concerns or questions.

| ![]() Very well written letter, and I really pray that something is done about this. I am completely appalled to hear the chain of events that occurred that day. Good for you for writing that letter!! It sounds like they will be looking into it, and I really hope they do...

| ![]() WOW! I am impressed, you seem very mature and intelligent for your age. Your letter was very well written with clear intentions. It inspires me to write that letter to the Internal Affairs with an issue I witnessed that I've neglected out of fear of making things worse. Thanks for sharing and I hope all works out well.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | ![]() Woohoo! Chalk up one for the people! That's awesome. And hopefully you'll get a satisfactory response from them. Again, you should be proud of yourself.

| ![]() I hope that if anything should happen to me, you'll be in the vicinity!! In addition to your great actions, uncompromising kindness, and citizenship, I'd like to say that, as a manager in the business world, to have a 19 year old put together a letter so well-written that included data based on fact along with opinions offered in fair manner - well - simply outstanding. You and your family and mentors should be proud of you!! ![]() ![]()

| ![]() Thank god you and your mother were there. An emergency crew might never have got there ![]() Even though I can never justify drunk driving (especially underage) a person should still be treated fairly during a medical emergency. |

Absolutely. I agree 100% No one was underage, though. The drinking age is 19 here & both were definitely over that. And while they were snubbing the younger guy, no one had even had a breathalyser so no one could have legally been considered drunk by that point ![]()

| ![]() Very true! And I think I read that the older man also admitted to having a drink or two. Isn't he the one who actually caused the accident or did I read that wrong? All I can say is that I am VERY proud of you. ![]()

| ![]() Way to go! You did the right thing in reporting this and many people would just let it go and forget it. You wrote a great letter and good for you in taking the time to do it. It is ridiculous how that accident was handled! Shame on them!

| ![]() Good for you! You wrote a very good letter and even got a response quickly! I would wait a little while and then email the Inspector for a follow up. If you don't get a satisfactory reaction, you could send your letter to the editor of the local newspaper. You don't need to be over a certain age to have common sense, and you certainly do!
