Our Blessings R Many Donating Member | ![]() Hi Everyone, wow what a day this was. Those were the good ole days when we was able to do everything ourselves without relying on hired help. Oh good golly, roofers was to be here at day break they showed up at 8:30 managed to get the shingles torn off then wanted to leave the paper, I said nope, so they got that off, the wood is all in great shape, wanted to make sure ![]() ![]() Oh my poor yard, all the work I did, and now holes all over the place not to mention the gravel dumped under the wheels and scattered everywhere from all the spinning, branches, pieces of my good wood that I used for cutting out my tole wood paintings ![]() I left the situation and thought oh well, I will rototill the west side of the yard for the new lawn and just get away from the whole mess for awhile, pulled on the starter cable and whammy, it jerked back and I let loose and it spiraled and whammed me in the left chest area (breast) and ohhhhhh am all black and blue, trying to figure out what to put on it besides ice. I told Jack for sure, once the lawns are all sowed, that tiller is going up for sale outside the front gate. I want one with a lectric starter. Hopefully I will get a good nights sleep and wake up in the morning bright eyed and raring to go, and face this situation with a smile and tonight I am saying well, we have a roof over our head, and with a prayer that it don't rain. I am so thankful that I can laugh at some of what happened today, as their was much more which I shared with my friend Connie ![]() What a day, what a day, so thankful that one thing I have learnt in life is lots and lots of Patience. WOW, to be able to physically do things for ourselves around home is so much to be appreciated for. Will come back tomorrow night or the next day and let you all know how everything went, Thank the Lord for giving me a sence of humor when the going gets tough. All the beautiful aganpanthas that I planted can be replaced and we have a roof over our heads and beds to sleep in and goodness knows when Jack will get Dish NetWork hooked back up so maybe he will find himself turning the computer on and coming in to visit with you all ![]() Thanks for letting me bend your ear and hopefully you won't think I am a grumbler ![]() Patti |

| ![]() I hope that roof gets done quickly and with no more incidents....that swat in the chest sounded like a doozy, hope it doesn't bruise to bad...at my age I bruise like an over ripe banana....I was having one of those days when some one happened to send this in an e-mail, it made me chuckle.... I Am Thankful: For The Wife Who Says It's Hot Dogs Tonight, Because She Is Home With Me, And Not Out With Someone Else. For The Husband Who Is On The Sofa Being A Couch Potato, Because He Is Home With Me And Not Out At The Bars For The Teenager Who Is Complaining About Doing Dishes Because It Means She Is At Home, Not On The Streets. For The Taxes I Pay Because It Means I Am Employed. For The Mess To Clean After A Party Because It Means I Have Been Surrounded By Friends. For The Clothes That Fit A Little Too Snug Because It Means I Have Enough To Eat. For My Shadow That Watches Me Work Because It Means I Am Out In The Sunshine For A Lawn That Needs Mowing, Windows That Need Cleaning, And Gutters That Need Fixing Because It Means I Have A Home. For All The Complaining I Hear About The Government Because It Means We Have Freedom Of Speech.. For The Parking Spot I Find At The Far End Of The Parking Lot Because It Means I Am Capable Of Walking And I Have Been Blessed With Transportation. For My Huge Heating Bill Because It Means I Am Warm. For The Lady Behind Me In Church Who Sings Off Key Because It Means I Can Hear. For The Pile Of Laundry And Ironing Because It Means I Have Clothes To Wear For Weariness And Aching Muscles At The End Of The Day Because It Means I Have Been Capable Of Working Hard. For The Alarm That Goes Off In The Early Morning Hours Because It Means I Am Alive. And Finally, For Too Much E-mail Because It Means I Have Friends Who Are Thinking Of Me.

Our Blessings R Many Donating Member | ![]() Hi, well the roof is on and so thankful this is finally over. Jack said the vents cold tar all looked like something a two year old would make out of play dough that would take the form of a castle with all its peeks ![]() Oh well, if not, I will do it myself, my thinking is if I tie a rope around my waist I can tie the other end around a vent and continue on wrapping the rope around each vent redoing the vents myself. Figure this way I won't fall off the roof. Have another ladder at the other side of the house so I won't have to back track across the roof again. I have been on roofs many times but at my age now have to be sure not to take any chances, wish me luck. Professional is just a word to me any more with little meaning. What happened to the meaning of PRIDE in ones work? I know there are people that are professional and in business and do still believe in taking pride in what they do, however here in this area so many peole are searching for them and their not to be found. Will let you all know how it turns out. Patti Last edited by Baby Blessing; 08-11-2007 at 01:12 PM. |

| ![]() Oh Patti,.... I was waiting for your up date on the final job, I had a feeling it wasn't going to end well the way it was starting out......is there no nephews to do the fix for you?....I hope you don't have to attempt this.....I see nothing wrong with a woman doing a mans job but in this case it sounds like your going to climb a mountain in with no soft snow to break your fall.... Your right about some people not having any pride in their work, it's all about the money...what a shame....About 20 years ago I had a roofer come out, wanting to save money we went with an ad in the paper, (never again) I only gave him half the money and the other half was due when completed...He knocks on the door and expected me to hand over the money...no way, I needed to see the finished job...he was surprised by this...this was a 2 story house w/ a walk up attic, very high, I couldn't go up there because I was 8 months pregnant...I took binoculars out and looked it over...this idiot put the drip edge ON TOP of the shingles, it looked like I had a white stripe outlining the roof...I told him to fix it right or I won't pay...Boy was he mad, he took a step toward me and stopped and was yelling at me that it was right, needless to say he fixed it....that was a lesson learned....
