LOL... I added a PB and Banana treat yesterday, it's with oatmeal and you chill them to make a cooling treat.

![]() Yours sounds like it would be a great way to soothe them when teething or a great treat on a hot day. Mine are a little different, they are baked in the oven to make dog biscuits and they don't have oatmeal in them.

| ![]() I have been proofing recipes today and unfortunately made a discovery that I need to make you aware of--please do NOT submit recipes that are not your own. Do NOT take recipes off websites (like Food Network, Southern Living, All Recipes, etc.) or out of other people's cookbooks (like Emeril, Ina Garden, Bobby Flay, etc.) and claim them as your own. This is copyright infringement and YT can get in serious trouble for this. I have seen several recipes like this. My suggestion--if you submitted recipes from another cookbook or website, PM me (or another proofreader) and we will delete them from the cookbook. It would be so much easier to let us know now, than for us to have to look up every single recipe submitted. Most of you have submitted (I'm sure) your own recipes...this is just a heads-up for those that did not know about copyright laws! ![]() ~What is copyright infringement? Copyright infringement occurs when a person copies someone else's copyrighted items without permission. This would also include public display of a copy of copyrighted work. ~What kind of penalties can be imposed for copyright infringement? If it is determined that a person is guilty of copyright infringement, penalties could include a court order to stop producing that item, confiscation of the items, and paying the owner of the copyright any profits you received (or could have received) as well as attorney fees.

Would you please check that? I went back to another thread about the cookbook before I submitted a certain recipe and found this quote by Mistyinca "Years ago, I used to belong to an online text-based web service called GEnie (anyone remember that one?) Anyway, we'd share recipes formatted for recipe programs. As far as copyright goes, this is what I learned: Individual recipes are not copyrighted. Compilations of recipes are, as well as the unique stories and such that goes with it. So as far as I recall, the magic number was 3. If you were including 3 recipes from any one book, then it was copyright infringement. If you take a so-and-so's recipe for say tuna casserole, and you have found that you don't add peas to it, but greenbeans, it is YOUR recipe now anyway. Maybe you don't add 1/4 ts black pepper, but 1/8 teaspoon. Same thing. Maybe you don't boil your noodles first, but add extra liquid to it and bake it all together--see where I'm going... Hope that helps," It was this thread and post #8 http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...light=cookbook That's the information I used and many others may have also. I submitted one recipe from a cookbook...the Oreo-inspired cookies. The other two are our own family recipes. Please remove it if you find that it is a copyright violation. Thanks! Judy

| ![]() A recipe cannot be copyrighted however a cookbook can be. You can still use a recipe out of a cookbook, but if too many recipes out of one cookbook are used, the copyright could be infringed. In practical terms this means that if there is any doubt, you should put the instructions of the recipe in your own words and try not to use too many recipes from one source. If there is still a concern, you should cite the source. Copyright law states: A mere listing of ingredients is not protected under copyright law. However, where a recipe or formula is accompanied by substantial literary expression in the form of an explanation or directions, or when there is a collection of recipes as in a cookbook, there may be a basis for copyright protection. What does this mean? Well, it means that the ingredients and method for cooking a dish, as listed in the recipe, cannot be copyrighted. However, the exact text used to explain the directions as to making the dish can be copyrighted, assuming there is enough there to count as intellectual effort. (For example, the instructions "mix well and serve immediately" surely could not and would not be copyrighted - but five paragraphs detailing preparation could be) However, if the method of preparation was completely re-written by someone, it doesn't seem to matter if it describes the same method, or an altered method, it's not a copyright violation. http://everything2.com/index.pl?node...0for%20Recipes

| ![]() If there is still concern around the issue, we should speak with Morris. They are very knowledgable in this area. Until then, I would recommend not deleting anything.
