I have been proofing recipes today and unfortunately made a discovery that I need to make you aware of--please do
NOT submit recipes that are not your own. Do
NOT take recipes off websites (like Food Network, Southern Living, All Recipes, etc.) or out of other people's cookbooks (like Emeril, Ina Garden, Bobby Flay, etc.) and claim them as your own. This is copyright infringement and YT can get in serious trouble for this. I have seen several recipes like this.
My suggestion--if you submitted recipes from another cookbook or website, PM me (or another proofreader) and we will delete them from the cookbook. It would be so much easier to let us know now, than for us to have to look up every single recipe submitted.
Most of you have submitted (I'm sure) your own recipes...this is just a heads-up for those that did not know about copyright laws!
~What is copyright infringement?
Copyright infringement occurs when a person copies someone else's copyrighted items without permission. This would also include public display of a copy of copyrighted work.
~What kind of penalties can be imposed for copyright infringement?
If it is determined that a person is guilty of copyright infringement, penalties could include a court order to stop producing that item, confiscation of the items, and paying the owner of the copyright any profits you received (or could have received) as well as attorney fees.
