hysteryctomy???? anyone? can you tell me what age and what it was like for you to go through this??? |
I had a historectomy when I was 34 b/c I had a tumor (no cancer thank God). Everything went very well and I really enjoyed not to have to deal with PM anymore. |
I was 36, and after it was done it was marvelous not to have the pain I went through every month.....what freedom. |
My uterus was removed at 25 and ovaries around 30. Loosing the ovaries hasn't been a cakewalk because it propelled me into "surgical menapause" but I've made it to 56 and still going strong. I'm sure the methods have improved alot since I had it done. |
:) 53 and I should have done it much sooner |
I was 29 and had a complete hyst due to endometriosis. I was in such pain prior to the surgery that after the surgery I didn't need any pain medicine. Complete relief. Once I got the supplements figured out (placed on Ogen) things were much better for me. Good luck! |
newmommy! I have thought about you so many times these past few months. I remember you had some health problems, and then I didn't see you on the board. Of course, I am not on everyday myself - so I thought perhpas I had missed you. I hope everything is going well - but it sounds like you may have to have surgery. :( I've never had a hysterectomy, so I can't answer your question, but I am glad to see you back on the board!!! :) |
I had it done at age 30 due to stage 2 cervical cancer and excessive pain and bleeding (sometimes my periods would last 2 - 3 WEEKS) Compared to how much pain I was in BEFORE the hysterectomy, the hysterectomy itself was a breeze! Losing the ovaries and being propelled into surgical menopause - not a breeze! It's only been a year and we are still trying to figure out the correct hormone replacement for me. |
I had a complete hysterectomy two years ago, and it made a HUGE difference in my life! I am 44. I take hormone replacement pills now, but other than that, I feel better than I have in ten years. My energy is back and NO PAIN! There is a wonderful support site on the web that can answer a lot of your questions. It was a huge help to me. It's called HysterSisters. Here's the link. Sign up, it's free! There's a message board and lots of wonderful information. http://www.hystersisters.com/ Please keep us updated. Hugs! |
I had mine at 29, I had Endometriosis...I am 47 now. While I have read hysterectomy is not a sure cure for it I have never had another problem. My daughter has suffered with it since the age of 14. She is now 24 and begging for one. The surgery did change my life, I was a new person. Pain can cause depression and mood swings. Have never heard anyone say they regretted having the surgery. |
My mom had a complete hysterectomy due to cysts on her ovaries. They took one out and a few years the other. She was late twenties early thirties then, now in her early forties. It has thrown her hormones out of whack! A lot of illnesses that run in our family she started experiencing, not saying it was totally because of the hysterectomy but it all happened within a few years afterwards. She gained a lot of weight, that started happening fairly soon after, she is now a type 2 diabetic, hormonal problems, now they think she may have lupus. Not saying this happens with every case, because it is wonderful for some people. I guess everyones bodies are all different. :) |
I had a complete hysterectomy at 35 (including ovaries) due to endometriosis. Early menopause was the only negative result, but NO MORE PAIN! |
In my 20's due to a tumor. If I had to do it all again, I wouldn't hesitate. FREEDOM FROM PERIODS!!!!! And the pain afterward was very manageable with very few meds. (I think I only took the pain meds for 1 maybe 2 days.) |
Im sorry. Im having such a hard time dealin with this. I was hospitalized last year for a while last year due to cysts on my ovaries bursting and filling my pelvic area with infection. I also have endometrisis. I am only 27. I have two boys. Husband is fixed but I always wanted a girl. I was told I needed a hyst. last year but never followed through. My pain is so bad right now. ITs incredible. everytime I menstrate I feel like I am dying. I went to the doctor yesterday and now not only are my ovaries shot to hell, but so is my uterus. So when I menstrate my uterus lining is now off my uterus and in my abdominal cavity and bleeding there when I menstrate. So im talking like within the month. !!! I cant stop crying. Im so upset. What if my husband and I get divorced (we've had a lot of marital problems lately). I want a girl so bad. i wanna be pregnant again. I wanna nurse again. but the realty of it is I never will be able to again. Im not dealing with this very well at all. |
i had mine at 37 due to the birth of my little girl. it was either that or me die. they could not stop my bleeding. now i am happy. no more monthly yuck!!! i laugh when ever i see a tampon in my home. nope...don't need this! the bad thing is i gained weight. most people do. |
