I also don't think that making YT a pay only site will help that much. I feel like most people can afford the fee if they really want to, and those that can't but want to "go after" someone on this board will find a way to get the money. It does worry me about people getting personal information about me or my furbabies in light of all that has happened, but my solution is just to be more selective in what I say and who I say it to. |
I'm not sure what's up but frankly it ticks me off to keep hearing how these wonderful people are being personally attacked by some sick f*@! and I hope admin is working on dealing with it. It only takes one rotten egg to ruin it for everyone and anyone who gets their kicks out of that needs a good a&# whooping. The majority of everyone on here are wonderful loving caring people who would give almost everything for the sake of their dogs. Everyone needs to stay true to their hearts and you guys know who your family is and those that you can rely on and listen to. First the attack on poor Lily's mom, PM's to Jenn and whatever the heck happened to stedmansmommy I'm not sure we'll know but it was enough to scare the crap out of her obviously. Cyber stalking is a crime and what comes around goes around. So whoever you are be looking over your shoulder because you NEVER and I mean NEVER come between a mother and her baby, human or otherwise!!!!!!! |
Here is a thought. This is a VBulletin board, much like another that I am a moderator on. We have a sub forum called "Premium Members" For a $10 donation a year, you have access to that sub forum that the general population does not. It is exclusive to those that donated. They also have better deals. For example, I want to sell a dress. In the Main section, I am asking $25 for it. In the Premium section, I would ask say $18. It is a much better group. People still visit the main section, but this is like a little retreat for those that "know" the option is there. It gets everyone away from the more ignorant new users. Then another thought. Have joining be an application process. People apply in the "prospective members" area and answer a few questions. Admin and senior members can vote if they feel they should be allowed to join or not. If that person is not complying to the TOS then they get the boot. Oh, one other thing with this...the information is still available to others, but they can not post nor PM. They can just search and review the info. Just a thought. But I agree, there are some unessicarily harsh users on here lately that are making others feel like complete crap and that is not fair! |
I have to agree 100% with Jodie - There's always going to be internet 'trolls'. Pay or free - there's always going to be JERKS in the world and with the net being so huge - we see WAY more than we would in real life. This 'recent' stuff isn't the worst I've heard about although what was said to SKJ1113 was evil and vicious :( we have to consider the source - it was a COWARD who hid behind a fake name. just use your common sense when talking to people. Most all are honest and up front but keep in mind - some are not ....Ask yourself - what are their motives for their questions ? Most all of us ARE here for fun - but not everyone on the net is like us. When you have a funny feeling about a private message - or you don't want to share information - DON'T. just be up front and say "I don't feel comfortable with that". like lots of you ....I get pm's all the time about the girls and while I don't refer Chanels breeder - I just let them know in a nice way it was NOT the best experience. Most people are here for the right reasons. It's only a very small percentage who want to cause trouble. ps....A jerk is a jerk whether they paid a fee or not - making this site pay only will change it and believe me - if someone is out looking for trouble - paying a little fee isn't going to stop them |
ps. The recent things that happened are terrible and appalling -- but after quite a few years online on these kinds of boards - trust me - it isn't 'new' and doesn't only happen here. A person doesn't have to be a member if they want to ruin someones life or intrude in our business - sadly, there are people out there that would love to do just that. Anyone with internet savvy can pretty much do whatever they want to do - pay site or Free site...there's that old saying - Where there's a Will there's a way ??? it applies here and again - just use common sense. If you get pm's asking about another members personal information - don't give it up. Tell that person to contact the member directly - IF Someone pm's you for PERSONAL INFORMATION about yourself - find out WHY and only share what you want known. If someone asks you for someones phone number - check with the person who's number it is first. Don't give out phone numbers unless you know for a fact that the person asking is trustworthy and has a valid reason |

LOL thanks - I didn't want to lecture but I've been posting now for almost 4-1/2 years - maybe 5 ? (even before YT :D ) and I can honestly say this kind of BS is not new to forums and it can happen whether people pay or have the choice to post for free. Alot of people wouldn't be here if it were a pay site. |
At the risk of looking like a dummy I have to ask...(I am aware of what recently happened w/ the breeder being contacted & told bad things)...but why do we NOT want to divulge where we purchased our yorkies from, I just assumed that particular incident was something rare & the person must have been disturbed , I thought we where supposed to gladly give a referral, not that I have......ok now let me have it... |

I DO give out the info on where I bought Chanel - but I also let people know how the breeder acted after Chanel came down with coccidia in less than 4 days... (she had it when I bought her). I almost lost my baby & the breeder didn't care ONE BIT. So when someone asks - I tell them. |
Excellent Advice Villette:thumbup: I have only been on one other site and when things get dull something like this shows up. I love both sites and they are both very well run. Adm. and the mods can only do so much. My breeder would be very upset with me if I gave her name out without meeting the person first. We stay in touch and have for the past 10 yrs and as much as I like the people on both sites, I have not meet you and I do have to realize how easy it would be to gradually get alot of info that would benefit them for other reasons. I think we feel alittle more protected on a site like this but for that very reason we are more vulnerable. Enjoy but be careful is my advise. |
I agree with "V" there are "jerks" no matter where you go. People who are going through a rough time are especially vulnerable. But that is where the rest of us come in, to beat off the "jerks" with our "verbal clubs" Anyone getting harassed, just PM me, I'll come to the rescue. :p I love a good fight. |
I've gotten MANY pm-s asking about my dogs...especially London and I proudly tell them that she's a pup from one of my past litters. It does not bother me to answer the questions of people. Now, sometimes, I do wonder about them, but it's all good. I enjoy meeting new people...even if only through pm-s. |
