Thank GOD that Mikey did so well today. :hands: :hands: :hands: that he won't need further surgery. He is such a beautiful baby!!!

Wow that is amazing. What a turn around from yesterday. I wish I could have been there to see the smiles on your faces as you watched him kicking and looking around at everyone. What a sight that must have been. Everyones prayers are doing wonders. I am sorry he has to have surgery again next Friday but hopefully this will take care of it and a cyst doesnt fill that void again. I am praying that the infection disappears once and for all and so does the swelling. You can see how alert he is but that darn infection is keeping him down. I am probably the only one not smart enough to figure out how to light one of those candles so I will just keep praying for Mikey, for strength for the family, and wisdom for the doctors.

Hey there everyone,
I just got a email from Becca. I will post it because I am on my way to work. Hope you all enjoy the news.
when we saw him today, he was wide awake, starring out the window! then the nurse came in and said he took 40cc's from her this morning at 8am. and at 930, he started acting hungry again. so we may be feeding him soon. he doesnt have the NG tube in (feeding tube) because he is getting plenty of fluids from his IV. so they are feeding him ADLIB (whenever he is hungry), and he is doing well that way. he is def. a different boy, in all the right ways. he is more energetic, watches what you do, plays with your hands, kicking the crap out of his feet! and best of all, he hasnt stopped smiling at daddy all morning. my little mikey is finally on the right road to recovery. i will continue to update.

i'm sooooo glad he's finally getting better:):) hopefully he'll be able to come home soon:)

I'll continue to pray for Mikey and your family. Thank God things are looking up now! Maybe the corner has been turned and all will be full speed ahead for little Mikey from now on.

I am so thrilled to hear he is still doing great. Val, if he continues to improve, will they still have to do the other shunt on Friday? I just want him to get to go home so bad. I feel like it wont be long. Keep us posted and WAY TO GO MIKEY!!!!!!!!!

Mikey is still doing great. I just got and email from Becca again. And I will add that to this post she explains things so much better.lol she is there with him all the time so she knows exactly what the doctors says I am at home just getting updates like everyone else. I so wish I could be there with her, but her hubby is there with her and I do not want to take that time away from them.

just wanted to let you all know that we got the results of mikeys cat scan. they actually let us see it too (its always scary seeing that-knowing how large his ventricles really are). the fluid collection on the outside is actually almost gone. however, the ventricles have grown in size again. so he will be having the shunt placed on friday, unless the ventricles continue to grow larger, then it will be sooner. but he is still doing very well. he needs to eat 75cc's every 3 hours. but they want to work him up to that amount. well last night, he ate 70 for me from bottle! so he is getting there! we are very excited and cant wait for a full recovery! talk to you all later

Hi Everyone,
SOrry this is going to be short. I am sick and can bearly sit at the computer my head hurts so much. I think it is the working a month and a half straight and trying to be there for becca with mikey. But hopefully if i take care of myself it i will feel better quickly. Becca emailed everyone this morning while i was at work. SO i will post her email. It is good news, Mikey might not need surgery on Friday. yahoo. those candles and prayers work so well. Thank you all so very much. I will keep you all updated.

hi everyone. i found out this morning that mikey may not need that extra surgery. they found his ventricles are still a little more enlarged then normal, but again, thats because the extra fluid on the side of his head is gone. once the ventricles start to decrease, the brain will expand and fill any void. his sutures and his soft spot are back to normal and his HC is down again. they are keeping a watchful eye on him though, just in case. his eating is still where I think it should be. he is eating between 55 to 65 cc's a feeding and they still feel that isnt enough. so instead of the tube (thank you!) they are fortifiying my breast milk and giving him formula that has 24 calories instead of 20 to see if that will help! it might be all he needs. they also do believe that he does have acid reflux and he will be medicated for that as well. i will update later! gotta run to the store and then get back to mikey!

Oh my gosh what wonderful news1 I am sitting here with goose bumps, you should never underestimate the power that God has and our prayers and good thoughts. This sure is wonderful news! We will continue to pray for him! God Bless him!!!!

I couldnt have said it better myself. Thank God Mikey is on the road to recovery. He is answering all of our prayers and Mikey is proof of that.

Hi there Everyone,
I know you all are probably worried there is not update yet. Sorry between being sick and having to still take care of the older people I take care of and take care of Babybear and my family here at home I haven't had a chance to get on tonight. I didn't get home from Babybear's accupunture appointment until about quart of seven. So I have been trying to catch up with updates and all.
Becca called me earlier around 8 and told me the doctors are saying that as long as they can get Mikey's acid reflex under controll then he might be going home tomorrow. I had to ask so does this mean no surgery for sure on Friday. Becca said as long as the cat scan comes out fine tomorrow and Mikey's brain is doing great they are going to leave him alone. And if that is the case and he is still doing well on feedings he can go home. Thank God. I am hoping everything goes great over night and they can come home tomrrow. Becca told me not to be suprized if she pushes for more like Thursday. She said she would rather be safe then sorry. I said as long as you feel comfortable coming home then everything will be fine. No feeding tube either he is taking all his feeding by mouth since the surgery on Friday the 13th. And everyone claims that is a bad day. Well that is going to be Mikey's lucky day.
I will update tomorrow when I get home if they were able to leave or not.
YOu all have agreat night. OH and I am still not feeling well but I need to get better fast where they are coming home. So early to bed tonight. Thank you for all your prayers and lighting candles I knew with everyone's help it would work.
