| my first was ortho-tricyclen. it was 28days. i got a migrain every month for 3 days in a row before the start of my cycle. it was terrible! then after i had my son i did NOT want to have "stair step" children, so i heard if you aren't nursing you can do the Depo Provera shot. i thought it was post-partum, but that shot turned me into a total B! and a big crybaby. commercials, country music, billboards, everything sweet or sad made me crycrycry. i do believe i also gained weight with it. i had a friend who took the shot when it first came out and she would be sick the whole next day or 2. i went back on the ortho b/c it was the only pill i "knew." then i talked to a friend about it and she said that i should talk to my Dr about the migraines. she was right. the Dr prescribed Mircette which only has 2 blanks and a level hormone, so you don't have what she called "hormonal headaches." they make it in a generic also. then i thought, "hey, i'm going to try that 4 periods a year thing." i HATED it. some side effects are spotting. and for me, if you don't have a period it's a bit unnerving to think, "am i pregnant and don't know??" also, the amount of hormone (or type maybe) made me emotional (like the depo did). so i did one 3 month cycle of that and got back on the mircette. my friend says she's used Yaz and it helps her not be so roller coaster. i'm thinking i may try that. of course, it does have 5-7 "blank" days. |
