| I worked part time as a pharmacy tech while I was in LPN school. I was a pharmacy tech for over 5 years before I started nursing. It was fine, just gotta find the balance. I worked as many hours as I could handle and still managed to graduate with honors. I think it's a mindset thing. If you want it bad enough, it'll happen. I did eat, sleep, and breathe nursing notes. I even took my books and notes to work with me to study in slow time. |

| i worked full time in a factory. carried 18 hours a semester. tried to raise a small family, used days off and vacations and unpaid leave for classes i couldn't get at night. that's when I took my nursing. They had a program especially designed for working adults. |

| Well, as any nursing student can attest to, there's always at least one of your instructors that's a bear to deal with; some are just sticklers for doing things exactly by the "book", but I think after the first year, they do lighten up a little as long as you demonstrate that you know what you're doing and get your stuff done on time. I found that even the most intimidating instructors really just wanted to make sure that you are learning along with the rest of the class or not making mistakes. When I was going thru school, I thought they were just mean (until I really got to know them), but when I think about it, they had a bunch of student nurses that they needed to keep an eye on and be responsible for, working with sick people or infections or medication administration, and it's ultimately their rear that's on the line if someone screws up. And actually, at least in my case; I think a little fear and pushing was a good tactic, LOL. Once you've got that license, you realize how much it really means to you and you really appreciate the instructors a lot more than when they're standing over you watching you prepare a syringe, LOL.
