My new persian cat....where do I begin? - YorkieTalk.com Forums

I havent been on YT in a couple weeks. Let me tell you why. I have been so busy with my new cat, Emma Grace. I found a website around mothers day that seemed to have very nice persians. I emailed back and forth with the lady for a few weeks and sent my payment for a cat. I went to the airport last Tuesday to pick her up (In new orleans, it was a 2 hour drive for us.) The next day I took her for her vet check..... where can I begin.
She had a very bad yeast and bacterial infection in both ears
sores and scabs on her feet where my vet said looked like she had been kept in a dirty cage
Ringworms!
and the vet also said she seemed to be very timid and didnt think she had been handled with very much.
The woman I bought her from told me that she slept in the bed with her and stayed inside with her other pets and family.
I met a woman when I was at the airport picking her up that was from New orleans actually picking up a cat from the same lady. I got that ladys email address so we could talk about our cats. I emailed her yesterday and she said she has all of the same problems, even worse, with hers.
So I have had her 2 weeks today and we have already been to the vet 5 times.
I am upset that the lady lied and misrepresented her cat, but I am even more upset that this poor thing was neglected.
I emailed the seller and she just said she would not refund any of my money or pay any of the vet bills.
So sorry this is so long, I just wanted to let my YT extended family know where I have been!
oh by the way, I am taking good care of her.

I am so sorry to hear about all the trouble you have been going through with you new baby...but I am so thankful that she has you now to take care of her...Glad your back girl, and we want pics of her soon....

i hope you do somehow report this awful woman... hopefully ur new lil kitty will recover fast and soon! at least its in a happy home now!!

Sorry to hear about your new baby, Kristi. It is so sad that their are so many people who only care about the money and not the animals. It sounds like she is is great hands. Love to see pics.

That poor kitty...on one hand it's like you did a rescue for her but then on the other hand she got the money & that's all that mattered to her...now she'll pump out another litter to dispose of ...it's so infuriating,sad & disgusting there are people who treat pets as tho their trash to dispose of...

About 2 1/2 yrs. ago I had two American Bobtail kittens flown up from Florida...in my opinion they where kept caged w/ no human contact also...it took about 4 months before any one could get closer than 4 ft. of them, they stayed hidden under furniture, ran from us, & ducked & stayed low to the floor just at the site of us....it took almost a year before anyone could run our hand down their backs...they where so frightened & timid of people...they didn't even know how to purr for over 1 1/2/ yrs....now they let you pet them briefly, but we can't cuddle them or pick them up..I thought about rehoming them but I don't think they would do well w/ a new owner, so there just here
& they keep to themselves...I was so disappointed.....

I hope your kitty adjusts well in your home & her medical conditions are just minor...Good Luck...

I am so sorry for all you are going through. I have adopted all of my purebred cats from breeders. A couple I went to their homes to pick out the kittens. Did you sign a contract? If so, look at it and see if the breeder is in violation of anything. If you don't have some pull with a contract, I would speak to the ASPCA in the town where the breeder is. Where I live, they just shut down a breeder for having too many animals. It was a real pet mill. I rescued my pure bred Himalayan from a pet store. He was malnourished. I gave him lots of TLC and now he is my favorite cat. You might just end up with a very special baby!

Poor little kitty, its so terrible that there are so many people out there who really care nothing about little furbabies and just care about $$ I hope that your little girl comes around soon and her health improves fast. I have had persians all my life and they more loving than any other cats that I have ever heard of. Don't give up, she will be worth it.

Try contacting the American Cat Fanciers Association - they maybe able to tell you how to report her.

If you find out what county she lives in you should report her to her local animal control. Chances are she is not in compliance with the local laws and will be cited and hopefully shut down.

Aw Kristis - so sorry you have had such a hard time with her. Can't wait to see photos. I love Persians!!! I hope that will an little effort she will become everything you've wanted.
