V, be careful. Let us know how it goes. My fingers are crossed for you. |
RATS - I just got back - (they live on a street behind me) and no one was home but I left a nice note in the mailbox. I hope considering someone (me) already called and reported them once - they'll take better care of this little dog ...I sure hope they take the note seriously because yes - I WILL be listening & watching...besides - I have the Trusty Spy Girls always spying on my neighbors Lol - they'll alert me if she's outside for long periods. |
>>>Back in 2005 they had let their poor dog get in such bad shape his skin was RAW over 1/3 of his body - what I had thought was rust colors on him was BLOOD I can't believe a person would purposefully let their dog get in that condition. Poor thing. >>I need ideas because if this poor dog is going to be left outside like this ...I need to do something...she's just out there crying and crying and it's breaking my heart. I read he had food and water. Is there a place for him to stay out of the sun. Is he tied up? I would keep an eye on him, and have that camera ready because you never know. Why would someone want a dog just to leave them outside anyway? Some people..... Mari |
Im glad you left a note...you can always do a follow up when they get home and see that they got your note...I always see dogs tied to trees or chasing my van and it sickens me...I didnt say anything but last week I killed a dog that ran out infront of my van...I was sick with sadness and angry that this dog was always let loose to run free and chase traffic..this has not been my year...Ive hit about half a dozen birds, and two baby raccoons...:( Dawn |

and AMMARI - I totally agree with you. I would be upset even if this wasn't the same neighbor that was so horrible with their 1st dog...No dog should be left alone crying for long periods of time - when they hear them cry BRING THEM INSIDE ! |
I know how frustrating it is. I have the same kind of thing in my neighborhood. there is a yorkie that is left out side most of the time. it is even hotter here in south texas. this poor yorkie got loose once and I informed the person where it lived. (I sure wish I had not) this was before I realized how much this yorkie was out there. It gets loose again you can bet your bottom dollar I will not let anyone know where it came from! I have not seen it up close but my husband has. he said it is not well kept. I can't do anything about either because they have a nice looking dog house for it to live in. SHAMEFUL!!!!! can you immagine the misquitos that they must have swarming on them? since there is nothing I can do about it at this point........ when I have mine out on the patio (no more than 5 min at a time) I always say loud enough for them to hear me....." come on little yorkies babies it is way too hot around here for you to be out side." Probably doesnt' do too much good because I dont' think these people can speak english. bugt I have to get any old dig in where I can. I know there are some people who disagree with me but I dont' think any dog regardless how big or ruff it is needs to be left out side in this heat. go get 'em vi!! |

Good Job! Could the ASPCA do a welfare check during the day? I had Animal Control here come and talk to some people about how they care for their dog. That would give them a heads up that they are being watched. Does the little doggie have water? Let us know what happens tomorrow, I hope they let her stay inside~ And yea, if you need help attaching the owners to a tree for 8+ hours in the sun with no water or shade, I'll help you with that |
YAY SO far so good :) :) :) - it's almost 8 pm and I hear NO crying -    but If they do the same thing again tommorrow I'm going to ask some questions to the ASPCA since they've already had to save a dog from them |
Some people are so cruel!!! That just makes me so mad! I personally don't think they should be allowed to own dogs if that's how they neglected the last one they had. |
V I hoped you solved the issue when you left the note. Let us know. |
Go V!!! A poodle.....outside? Texas heat is brutal, but let's not forget the humidity! The heat index is out of sight. Please keep us updated. |
How Long does the dog bark???? In Pa there is a certain length of time they can bark and then the owners get warning and then a fine. That may encourage them to bring their dog inside. Look up the statutes in your area. It isnt the best answer but it may help getting the dog in the house!!!! |
Wow i just read this whole thing.. i hope the note got to them and they realize that they cant just leave a dog outside in scorching weather with no shelter!! Btw do they know it was you who wrote the note? |
Steal it and call me - I'll come get it. You know I have a soft spot for the little darlings who have not had a good start in life. |
I thought about this poor lil puppy all night. What makes me sad also is that if thee people haev so little regard for the well being of this dog that just keeping him/her inside isnt going to make that much more of a better life. It will be out of the heat sure and thats good but will it be stroked and loved on and played with or just ignored left to run around the house by itself or worse kept in a laundry room or a garage all day still lonely and starved for affection. People who think of dogs as just "animals" will continue to think of them that way regardless of where they keep them. IMO. |
I would find some way for the poodle to get into my yard..;)..Find it a better home. |
I can't even describe what goes through me, body and soul, when I see suffering like that of this poor lab. There is nothing else in life that affect me this way. Bless you for saving this angel. I don't know what to say about the poor poodle. Do you still have the case # for the first dog? I wonder if you can call ASPCA, note the case # and tell them about this dog being left in the heat. Of course, there is always the off chance that the dog could accidentally drop into your arms..... |

The little Poodle they had out there for almost 3 day so FAR has been inside. I can't see into their yard but I have very good ears and haven't heard any crying since I went over there. I hate to be 'the nosy neighbor' but holy cow - after the way they treated their other dog I was scared for this ones life...I keep his picture in computer to remind myself that there are thousands more out there just like him and THAT is unacceptable ! |

I hear you about being obsessed. I'll try to make this short: years ago, there was this black chow in my neighborhood - probably 9 mths. old, very shy, slow, scared - I'd see him sleeping under cars, against the curb. I KNEW something was wrong, I could literally feel it in my soul - that I MUST capture this dog. He smelled putrid and I knew something was not right. But he'd run every time. Finally, one day I saw him - I grabbed a leash and chased him for 45 minutes. He ran into a yard, I cornered him, and looped a leash around his neck. I tried to pull, he would thrash his head around - and I could SEE something was not right w/ his neck - but I didn't know what else I could do to get him home other than to basically PULL and DRAG him (more later on this heartbreak). I get him home, give water/food, I gag when I go near him bc he smells like rotting/dead flesh - he is BROKEN, I tell you. We take him to Human Ass'n - we drive w/ windows down bc the stench is going to make us vomit. They take him in, I tell them something is wrong w/ his neck - we wait. They come out and say: "This dog is probably near death, someone turned him out when he was a puppy, LEFT HIS COLLAR ON AND THE FLESH HAD TO OPEN UP TO ACCOMMODATE HIS COLLAR AS HE GREW. His neck is an open wound all the way around, he is probably filled w/ maggots and most likely will be put down." .....I almost collapsed w/ sadness and rage... Went home, cried all night at how cruel the world can be to innocent creatures. Called the Ass'n next day, they said: "We can't believe it, there is not a maggot in site. We removed the collar in surgery, closed him up, put him on antibiotics and he's healing". We went to see him that day - he looked better, but seemed so broken - laying in the corner of his cage, just withdrawn. They said probably an Ass'n employee would adopt him bc of his story - and I told them if not, call me. Anyway, sorry for the long story - but this HAUNTS me to this day. It tortures me for the dog. It also tortures me bc I'm sure I caused unbearable pain when I had to "drag/pull" him back to my home by the leash around his neck. THAT is what kills me - I know it wasn't intentional, but I can't bear that I caused him more pain. I could almost vomit right now thinking about it. In any case, it so simple, really, to help these fellow creatures - we never really know how bad off they may really be until we get involved. Sorry for the thread hijack! |
God job V. They know your watching them so maybe now they will be careful not to be so dumb and thoughtless. I hope the little poodle is not locked down in the basement alone. Hugs to the spy girls, |
Wylie's Mom OMG OMG !!! YOU SAVED HIS LIFE ! Omg that was a horrible horrible story and all I can say is how common that is with people that don't CARE About their pets and leave them chained & it makes me insane with anger reading about that kind of thing..... that dog would have died if it not for you - GOOD FOR YOU SAVING HIM ...I had chills reading your post and wanted to cry reading about his poor neck. I can see how you'd feel badly but honestly - even if it caused pain you had no way of knowing ...and you stepped UP and rescued him from a horrible miserable painful death. I appoint YOU hero of the day with that one ! and Carol - OMG I feel like Chanel peeking thru my fence to check on the poodle only she looks CUTE doing it - I just look NOSY LOL  - I'm a true spy girl the last few days ....The Girls should be so proud and that's my reasoning for leaving the note - they KNOW someone is paying attention now - that alone may help that poor puppy. |
Ahhh I agree V. Wylies Mom HERO OF THE DAY! WHY do people get animals if they don't want to be GOOD PET OWNERS?! It makes me so mad. I don't get it. And if you decide you can't take care of them properly- find them a home or take them to a shelter..don't dump them. that is the cowards way out. |

and you should post your story on Millbusters. Maybe the next person who sees a dog outside alone will take a closer look - that was just awful and I'm so proud of you. http://www.millbusters.com/forums/index.php Posting this picture only for the laugh - but this basically is the set-up |

LOVE the pic of your respective "look outs" - you should have someone take a pic of all 3 of you spying. |

Dogs running loose can be a problem, too. My son flipped his jeep to avoid a dog in the road. Totalled the jeep, but thank God my son was fine (so was the dog). Hopefully, the dog was just visiting -- but still -- what idiots. Wylie's MOM - you're IT gir! -- way to go!! |
