| My Dog Casey Hi everyone, I was on dogsey.com and a fellow reader told me to post my blog here for any information regarding dogs sold at Petland? As you read below you will see that she suffered a great deal, benounced to us. Because they did not disclose that she was ill from day one. I understand that most kidney problems don't arise until maturity but this was a sensless death. I just wanted to know if anyone out there has had a dog recently diagnosed with severe renal failure. My dog Casey (bulldog/boston terrier) is 3 and she was taken to the vet last week to our knowledge only leaking a little bit of urine. When I left I was devistated. He diagnosed her with congential kidney failure. She was born with this. We had NO idea. We took her every 6months for check ups with the vet. I decided that the vet we were going to was too expensive so I changed. The vet immediately called in a specialist and he did an ultrasound of her kidney that was when the bomb shell hit. We were sent home with IV's 500ml per day, modified diet (that she stopped eating) and by today she was put to sleep. Im very devestated. All I could do today is cry. I loved that dog with all my heart. We bought her from Petland, with a contract that stated "No congetial defects" Now what do I do. I don't have my dog anymore, Im furious. I would have thought that prior to selling a dog you would test these things. I would appreciate any feedback. Thank you |

| I am so sorry that you and your baby had to go through that. Did you get ahold of Petland to give them your vet information and try to get a refund. I would not get a replacement from them but try to get a refund. Post this on millbusters.com too. IT is a sister site to this one and it is about puppymills. Villette is a moderator there and maybe can help you with other ideas. Once again I am sorry about Casey. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I SO hate Petland and am so sorry to hear your Casey passed away - that's so sad and you have my condolences... Here's a site that you can post on also - we just revived it and it's solely for these kind of awful stories and you're more than welcome to post Casey's story there - the more it's talked about the more people will become aware of these awful Pet Stores and where the dogs they sell come from http://www.millbusters.com/forums/index.php Today, a good good friend of mine is having to put her dog Pepper to sleep...so I'm having a hard time posting today. He's a pet store puppy too & very sick ....they love him too much to let him suffer ....you can read about him on Millbusters also. you have my deepest sympathies....3 years old is far too young. |
