That is sooooo good to hear. Like I have said before, I am 100% sure that Mikey is going to recover and show no signs of this again. God is answering all of our prayers and you will have good news soon, I just know it.

I just read through this entire post. Val I am so sorry to hear about Mickey and will keep him in my thoughts. I am praying that he pulls through w/flying colors.

I am going to post Becca's email to everyone today. It isn't very good. I am sorry this is going to be short. I just got back from taken Babybear for his accupunture and I have to go back to work. I will try to get on after I get back home. Please keep the candles burning.

hey everyone. just wanted to update you all. today started off pretty good. he was able to get his ventilator tube out and he was breathing by himself for just about two hours. then he started to fall asleep and stopped breathing again. this time his heart rate was down in the 50's. so they had to bag him and put him back on the ventilator. i asked the doctor why he would do good, then bad. he said he still thinks there is neurological damage and that the menangitis isnt helping. this confused me because the neurologist yesterday said everything was looking okay and that nothing looks damaged at all. anyways, mikey gave it a good shot. we called a couple family members, to inform them how it went. and then after, we went back to the room, i asked the nurse why one doctor is saying one thing and the other doctor is saying something completely different. she explained that you cant tell if the brain stem is damaged. its like breaking your leg, you know its hurts, you limp, its signs that its broken. but you dont know its broken until you look at an xray. then again, sometimes the xray doesnt show its broken. she says its not the same, but similar to that. you can look at the brain scan, but cant tell what damaged. then she went on to explain he has been off of all drugs that would make him sleepy, but he continues to sleep. hes not waking up often at all. they didnt even have to sedate him this time to put the tube in. she said it definitly well could be from the menangitis, or the infection. but he has been on antibiotics for several days and should be doing more then he is right now. so they are going to keep pumping those antibotics into him and when his fourteen days are up and he is still not doing well, then they will lean towards there being a neurological problem. this is driving me nuts. i hate being told one thing, and then another. you would think the neurologist knows what he is saying. mike was here this time when the doctor said it. so he knows what he was talking about yesterday as well. im becoming scared again. im trying to stay positive, as is everyone else. and i know people have told me on the hydro group im on, that some of thier children went through the same things. so im hoping that mikey makes it out okay. but the way the RN was just talking, im not too sure. i guess we all just got to keep our heads up. hope that he does a good job. i mean even from yesterday he did better. yesterday the tube didnt even come out. he only lasted 10 minutes on the cpap. today the tube came out and he did fine for just about two hours. so we are hoping that he gets better day to day. and that the infection is causing everything. if we hear more, i will continue to update. sorry for the novel this time. thanks

I am glad Mikey is breathing a little longer on his own but hope tonight he will start to be more alert and less sleepy. I am sure his little body is just tired of getting poked and prodded. You know how it is in the hospital and you never get any sleep so maybe he is jsut worn out. I hope tomorrow is a better day for little Mikey.

I am praying for your precious baby. I would think that he would be tired and sleepy after all he has been through. I am praying that is sleeping so much is due to the fact that he's been so sick and his little body is weak, but will grow stronger each day. I think it's a good sign that he breathed on his own for so much longer today. My heart goes out to you for all that you are going through. I pray that he will come out of this a happy and healthy baby. Hugs to Mikey and his family.

Hi there everyone,
Sorry for the late update. My cable modem went dead and the cable company told me they couldn't come out until the 7th to fix it. I told them I will buy my own and do it myself. I just had to call them with my numbers on the new one. And it is going ot save me 5.00 a month.
Well today has been much better. Mikey has woken up and has been trying to move around. He has been pulliing at his tubes in his mouth and popped one of the blue pieces off. The doctors told Becca he keeps this up they will have to sidate him again. Just what she doesn't want. He was put back on the cpap for a hour and a half today did great. They just wanted to exercise his lungs. They might try again tonight. Becca asked for him to stay on lifesupport for at least one more day so there are no set backs. So he has been doing great today. All the prayers are helping. Thank you all very much.
I have to run I have to go swim Babybear. IT is getting late and need to get this done.

Thank you for posting the updates....with all you are going through it must be a little hectic fitting them in ...it's great news Mikey is better...even if it is a small step at least now it's in the right direction....Mikey's days are moment by moment milestone....good thoughts for continued progress....
