I just read this: Paris Hilton has been fitted for ankle bracelet and reassigned to house arrest, after authorities decided to release Hilton from jail due to medical reasons, this according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept. spokesperson, Steve Whitmore. Reporters hammered away about Paris' medical condition during a press conference in front of the jail, where she was released early this morning, but Whitmore said that due to confidentiality laws, he could not discuss even the slightest health-related details. Paris will be under house confinement in her West Hollywood home for 40 days, where she has a 3000-4000 ft. radius of freedom. Her jail cell was 96 square feet. After the 40 days are up, Whitmore says she will have "fulfilled her debt to society." Whitmore made it clear that Paris was not released early -- she was reassigned. She is technically still in custody. |
TMZ is saying she was reassigned to house arrest due to health issues. Oh lord, whatever. Who cares? |

Whoopsies! I was posting at the same time. You were a lot more informative though.:) |
Good excuse? mmmmmm...... I know that there are a BUNCH of people that go to jail with medical conditions.... wondering if it is something serious or maybe just a good excuse to let her out. |

because if it were me, i would still be in the slammer... im not a threat to society either |
I agree, she is not a dangerous criminal. BUT she DID break the law, and there are MANY young people (not criminals) that are serving time (for drinking and driving, reckless driving, speeding & evading)..... maybe that time in jail will give them time to think about lives that could have been lost due to one stupid mistake. 3 days is NOT enough time for that. She has been in trouble too many times and it is time for her to realize that there are others to consider. |
No one can tell me that money doesn't make a difference. When I worked at a jail (years ago), we didn't turn anyone away and the only person that was released before time served was a man that was a regular. He was an alcoholic, was vomitting black stuff...was released, went to the hospital, hospital called the cops because he was banned from going to the hospital. Cops pick him up, bring him to jail, we refused to take him because we knew he was dying and the county didn't want to pick up the tab. Hospital finally allowed him to be seen, he was admitted, and died a week later. Anywho, they have doctors that go to the jail for those that are sick...as well as dentists. If Paris had a medical condition that would have prevented her from serving her sentence, then that should have been brought out prior to her sentencing. Her only "sickness" was probably a mental thing from being locked up in solitary for 23 hours out of a day. Once again, the laws and alike are giving preferential treatment to celebrities and those with lots of money. |
I just saw on tv that she is sentenced to 40 days house arrest insted b/c of health or something ? IDK i personally like her so but thats just me lol! I know lots of ppl dont! |
Probably cause she wasn't eating in jail she had health related issues from weakness. I still think money played a part in it. |

Now she has been fitted with an ankle bracelet and is being confined to her home for 40 days... Just another Martha Stewart!!!  |
Also, don't you all think that if PARIS HILTON had a SERIOUS MEDICAL CONDITION, that would have ALL heard about it by now??? That would have been the top story  :thumbdown |
Not a dangerous criminal? Hmmm---- so you're okay with people drinking and driving, getting their license suspended and getting caught driving while the license was suspended? I am not. What is the logic in having laws that don't really have consequences? None. Shoplifters are not dangerous either, but repeat offenders get jail time. Being scared and not being able to shop is NOT a medical condition last time I checked and I am certain they're plenty of folks who are plenty scared and stressed and depressed because they are in jail. In shared cells in the regular jail population. No one is saying they can be "reassigned" to house arrest. Her "medical" condition did not stop her from attending events, parties and going shopping in the weeks leading up to her jail time. |
