I just read this: Paris Hilton has been fitted for ankle bracelet and reassigned to house arrest, after authorities decided to release Hilton from jail due to medical reasons, this according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept. spokesperson, Steve Whitmore. Reporters hammered away about Paris' medical condition during a press conference in front of the jail, where she was released early this morning, but Whitmore said that due to confidentiality laws, he could not discuss even the slightest health-related details. Paris will be under house confinement in her West Hollywood home for 40 days, where she has a 3000-4000 ft. radius of freedom. Her jail cell was 96 square feet. After the 40 days are up, Whitmore says she will have "fulfilled her debt to society." Whitmore made it clear that Paris was not released early -- she was reassigned. She is technically still in custody. |
TMZ is saying she was reassigned to house arrest due to health issues. Oh lord, whatever. Who cares? |

Whoopsies! I was posting at the same time. You were a lot more informative though.:) |
Good excuse? mmmmmm...... I know that there are a BUNCH of people that go to jail with medical conditions.... wondering if it is something serious or maybe just a good excuse to let her out. |

because if it were me, i would still be in the slammer... im not a threat to society either |
I agree, she is not a dangerous criminal. BUT she DID break the law, and there are MANY young people (not criminals) that are serving time (for drinking and driving, reckless driving, speeding & evading)..... maybe that time in jail will give them time to think about lives that could have been lost due to one stupid mistake. 3 days is NOT enough time for that. She has been in trouble too many times and it is time for her to realize that there are others to consider. |
No one can tell me that money doesn't make a difference. When I worked at a jail (years ago), we didn't turn anyone away and the only person that was released before time served was a man that was a regular. He was an alcoholic, was vomitting black stuff...was released, went to the hospital, hospital called the cops because he was banned from going to the hospital. Cops pick him up, bring him to jail, we refused to take him because we knew he was dying and the county didn't want to pick up the tab. Hospital finally allowed him to be seen, he was admitted, and died a week later. Anywho, they have doctors that go to the jail for those that are sick...as well as dentists. If Paris had a medical condition that would have prevented her from serving her sentence, then that should have been brought out prior to her sentencing. Her only "sickness" was probably a mental thing from being locked up in solitary for 23 hours out of a day. Once again, the laws and alike are giving preferential treatment to celebrities and those with lots of money. |
I just saw on tv that she is sentenced to 40 days house arrest insted b/c of health or something ? IDK i personally like her so but thats just me lol! I know lots of ppl dont! |
Probably cause she wasn't eating in jail she had health related issues from weakness. I still think money played a part in it. |

Now she has been fitted with an ankle bracelet and is being confined to her home for 40 days... Just another Martha Stewart!!!  |
Also, don't you all think that if PARIS HILTON had a SERIOUS MEDICAL CONDITION, that would have ALL heard about it by now??? That would have been the top story  :thumbdown |
Not a dangerous criminal? Hmmm---- so you're okay with people drinking and driving, getting their license suspended and getting caught driving while the license was suspended? I am not. What is the logic in having laws that don't really have consequences? None. Shoplifters are not dangerous either, but repeat offenders get jail time. Being scared and not being able to shop is NOT a medical condition last time I checked and I am certain they're plenty of folks who are plenty scared and stressed and depressed because they are in jail. In shared cells in the regular jail population. No one is saying they can be "reassigned" to house arrest. Her "medical" condition did not stop her from attending events, parties and going shopping in the weeks leading up to her jail time. |
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Paris Hilton's medical condition was purely psychological and that she was in peril of having a nervous breakdown, and that's why she was released early this morning. Psychiatrist Charles Sophy visited Hilton in jail yesterday and the day before. We're told after Sophy's visit yesterday, word was passed to the Sheriff that Hilton's mental state was fragile and she was at risk. The reason for releasing her had nothing to do with a rash or other physical issues. It was purely in her head. |
Makes me sick!!!!!! Do the crime, do the time!!! She is no better then the rest of the drunks!! |
Money talks and always will. Do you think her father would really allow her to be in jail? Someone paid off someone. Wanna bet that ankle bracelet is custom with diamonds all around. If that were yours or my kid she would be serving the full 45 days, licence suspended and have to go to AAA! |
I heard about Paris also. I just have to say that money can buy your almost anything and I think it bought her, her way out of jail. Give me a break, house arrest in a huge home like hers. I heard on the radio this morning, that while she was still in jail, she had to ask one of the guards how to make a collect call. Like someone else said, I don't think they let you out of jail for a "medical" condition, mental or physical, unless it's very, very serious and then the "normal" inmate would probably be put in a hospital instead of "house arrest". Ugh...... |
I salute this statement posted earlier.... """""Her medical" condition did not stop her from attending events, parties and going shopping in the weeks leading up to her jail time.""" I guess we will see how long her medical condition keeps her on that tether! Maybe she will need therapy which will entail going to the mall, a local coffee house, maybe a club or two.....   __________________ |

I am not a fan of Paris... the only thing that would cause me to be okay with the house arrest thing is that they say the normal sentence is for the amount she stayed in jail. I dont feel she should be punished more or less because of who she is. Her poops stinks just like everyone elses. |
Of for cryin out loud that big baby - she bought her way out of jail .....a medical condition my butt the justice system is only hard on the average person - those with money always get special treatment |
I've never by any means been a fan of Paris but according to reports, the time MOST people, meaning regular people like us, spend in jail for her crime is 3-5 days. She didn't got o jail for her DUI, it was for driving with a suspended license. So I think she is being made an example of because she technically should have only gotten less than a week, which she did serve in jail and she has to spend another 40 at home confined. So while I don't like her and celebrities do get preferential treatment I think she served the time she would have served anyway and she's still under custody so I'm not sure why everyone is so bothered by it. There are rapists and murderers living on most everyone streets and we're worried about Paris Hilton as a threat? |
Quick! Someone design an ankle braclet that matches hers. You will make a fortune!!!! |
Oh that poor thing. She was under a little stress was she? Probably having bad panic attacks since she hasnt been able to go buy thousands of dollars worth of clothes in the last few days. I am sure that jail food was not at all acceptable to her highness either. Probably made her sick just to think about eating food the rest of the common folk in there had to eat. I'm sure it made her nauseous to think about all of the parties and drinking and men out there she was missing out on with being locked away like a common criminal for 3 whole days for breaking that silly law once again and getting caught. I can guarantee she learned nothing and we will be reading about her again soon. Next time she might not be so lucky when she gets drunk and decides to hop in her fancy car and drive. |

It is really a "sorry" thought, but probably very true! |
She wasn't eating the jail house food, and her nerves probably played a part to her getting a rash. It isn't her fault that she is a weak frail person when it comes to living like that. She's been raised quite differently than most of the world and she just can't cope! I'm sure if she ever breaks the law again, it will be quite different, and I'm sure she knows that. She's going to have to face the public in less than a month and I'm sure everywhere she goes there will be some very rude remarks for her. That alone is uncalled for added punishment. I say "give her a break". |
Just to also add, I'd rather there be a million Paris Hilton's in this world than more Lindsay Lohans, Britney Spears and other druggies and alcoholic starlets who have really done nothing in their lives. Lip synching isn't a talent. It's not her fault she's been raised in priveledge. It's easy for us to sit back and say how sad and pathetic it is that she couldnt handle it but even us common folk would probably break down in jail. I will be the first to admit that if my family and I had the kind of money she has, I would also love shopping, starting my own perfume lines, have a good time and not have a care in the world. It would just be how my life would be, and I'm certain no one would argue that they wouldn't live a different life than her (minus the sex tape, I wouldn't do that..lol) if the money was available. |
Nobie, I agree with you on both posts. |
