Missing Yoshi Everyday! Donating Member | A chihuahua litter of 5 and 3... Puppies Born Without Front Legs Need Home Image Tanya Rivero Reporting (CBS) PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. Three puppies at the North Shore Animal League were born missing both of their front legs, and while they're stealing the hearts of the center's employees, they're now in need of good homes. The 4-month-old chihuahua siblings, Carmen, Pablo, and Venus were all born without front legs, but they are otherwise perfectly healthy, happy, and full of life. "They are healthy dogs that don't know that they have something wrong, and since they have each other, they are happy," said Donna Imhoff, Senior Veterinarian at the NSAL. Imhoff has been caring for the puppies while they wait for a permanent home. She says each has a distinct personality, with Venus being the leader of the pack despite being the smallest. "I love every one of them, they're babies," she said. "They're babies who need help." The puppies were born to a backyard breeder in Virginia. Two other puppies in their litter of five were perfectly normal, but the breeder dropped off the special trio at a local SPCA, but they didn't have the resources to properly care for them and instead reached out to the NSAL. "I was a little surprised to hear there were three in the litter that didn't have their front legs, but they were just so full of life and playful, we wanted to give them a chance," said Joanne Yohannan, Vice President of the NSAL. To get around, the puppies hop on their hind legs. Still, there are now hopes that a special wheeled device could be developed. "If some kind of body-glove could be made, kind of like a scuba diver would wear, with wheels on them, then that piece could grow with the puppies," Yohannan said. Officials believe these birth defects were caused by excessive inbreeding, a common problem with puppy mills and backyard breeders. Anyone interested in giving Carmen, Pablo, and Venus a loving home, the shelter would prefer to keep them together. For more information and to track the puppies' progress online, click here. Copied from here. Video of puppies I was watching headline news and seen this report so i google it and wanted to post it here...i hope they find a good home..and the breeder should be force to spay/neuter her stock. One good thing came out of it...she gave them a chance when she turned them over..

| What a awful thing to have happened, but they look like they are getting around fine. I would take one in a heartbeat if I was closer.

| AWHHHH Bless their little hearts....stupid people just annoy me. I have seen those wheel things before and they look like they could work for these little babies too. I am praying they find special homes that will love them and care for them.

| Just another reason why people who don't know what they are doing shouldn't be breeding |
