| Questions For Teachers And/Or Administrators My husband took a year off from being in the education field to work in sales. He has missed it and is trying to get back into it. The area that we live in is VERY difficult to get a job. Typically, people stay forever and do not leave until they retire. There are a lot of schools and even a lot in the surrounding areas, so that's good....more possibilities. Here's where my question comes in. My husband had 2 interviews that went well...in fact, both schools are going to the board with his name. Both of the board meetings are on the 17th so we won't know anything until then. Since both schools have made it clear to my husband that they want him, that would leave him with 2 choices. The pay is about the same but one position is with special ed (he is currently enrolled in the Master's program) and the second position would be a PE teacher. My husband originally went to college to be a Health/PE teacher....he loves it. How does a person turn one position down that has gotten to the point that they have taken his name to the board? If he turns one down, will he not ever be considered for anything at that school again? How does this work? I have to say, since it is so difficult to get a decent position here, we are thankful that we are on this end and not the other. Would rather have 2 offers than none. Thanks for reading this! | Wow! I am in college to be an elem ed teacher, and I only have a year left. Thats not good news!!! My answer is coming from experience: My dad is a Administrator/Coach, and my Uncle is a Superintendent, My brother is a coach/teacher, Uncle Principal, various teaching family members..... I can't believe there isn't any teaching jobs available! There are tons around here!!! So so so many open! I have something through my school that I can search for jobs all over American for teaching if you want. Unless you have a student id here you can't look at them. Where are you located at in Co I can check for you?? On the job question that you asked... It depends, some school boards can be judgemental like that. Although most do not base situations like you said, looking at a candidate at the prior job offer. Most understand the money/situation/etc. I know that my Uncle is very understanding, as long as he is kept in contact and he knows about the situation. I just think it depends alot on what type of people are on the board overall. I would still be very open with both schools and let them know whats going on, communication is important.

oh and any tips he may have on getting a job. Being across the country at this point I have been sending my resume (and everything else) and tried calling. But most places don't answer.

| Is there any way that you could take a few days and just job hunt in PA? When we were planning our move to Missouri from Texas, we had to make 3 different trips back and forth for him to look and interview. |
