I am crushed... As many of you know I have a new maltese puppy Bentley. He was kind of a impulsive buy, fueled by my daughters begging. I have always loved the maltese breed and I love Bentley. Before I bought Bentley I was going to buy another yorkie from the breeder I got Hannah from. Well the litter that was available was from a different mom but the same dad. I had a couple picked out but I just decided to wait until she had another litter from Hannahs mom and dad. Well she informed me that she was not going to breed anymore because she wanted to travel and take a break. She told me that all her puppies from the litter that I had the 2 picked out had been sold. So at this time I thought that I had missed out on the litter from a different mom and that now I would never get a puppy from Hannahs mom and dad. She told me that she is keeping Hannahs mom and her mother took Hannahs dad. So, I bought Bentley. I wanted another puppy from Hannahs mom and dad soooo bad. Then today I find out that 4/4/07 Hannahs mom and dad had another litter. I am devistated. I love Bentley but if I had known that she had that litter I would have never gotten him...:( . That doesn't change how I feel about him now, but I feel crushed. I want another yorkie from Hannahs mom and dad sooo bad but I don't think I can handle another dog or afford to take care of it the way I think that dogs should be taken care of......I am so devistated:cry: . What should I do. My family will try to commit me into a psychiatric institution if I get another puppy, not to mention that my husband would divorce me. I don't know what to do. I already have 4 dogs and a cat. But we just bought a 200 acre farm and will be building a BIG house soon. But I don't have the room now and I am not sure that I could give 5 dogs the attention they deserve, actually it is hard to give 4 dogs the attention. I guess I will just have to walk away from this one...:cry8: :cry8: :cry8: . Please if anyone has any suggestions for me I would greatly appreciate it......Genie |
To be honest, I think you answered the question yourself. If you are unsure if you'll be able to care for all of your pets, why would you get another one? Sounds like you already have your hands full. |

Oh i'm sorry I wish I knew what to tell you. I see two choices. Love Bently and don't look back, or two, rehome Bently and get the yorkie you wanted and don't look back. I love his name by the way. ;) |

I'd love a Maltese, but I would so afraid it'd consistently be dirty. :D Not to go off topic but how do keep him looking so good? |

OMG he is SOOOOO CUTE.... just look at that face |
I just got my 3rd dog. I have my 3 yr old yorkie Cookie, 1.5 yr old Lola Maltese and 3month old Yorkie Angel. My kids and husband help out for certain things like cleaning up and baths. But I mainly do those things everyday for them and it is work.If you think you can't give them all the attention they need then you already answered your question. Your Bentley is adorable and I am such a sucker for boys! I think they are the sweetest furbabies! By the way you are the first person in ages that spells their name exactly like mine! I'm also Genie, from PSL ,Florida :) Genie Cookie Lola Angel |

It is very rare I find another "Genie"...LOL. I also do most of the care of my dogs too, but I don't work outside the home (well I work two 4 hour shifts a month in the ER to keep my skills up) so it really doesn't take much of my time and I really enjoy doing the baths and combing and walking. Boys are very very sweet and loving. I have a male lab-Diesel, and a male golden-Jake too. I can't leave out my cat Sunshine. I love all my pets and I would love to have more, but I don't know about that right now. |
He is adoreable You are letting the love shine through you by not parting and rehoming Bentley, that is what having a pet is all about.....LOVE. You also are a caring person to realize the care and well being of four is enough. Bless you for the love you have for each of yours. He is adoreable and love the name you chose for him. Patti |

I am feeling better about this today. I just always wanted another yorkie like Hannah, but for some reason god sent me Bentley instead....;) |
I think you are doing the right thing. The Breeder is someone I would stay away from as she is the one who kinda made up your mind about buying Bentley! She told you she would not be breeding for a while cause she wanted to travel! Sounds like she just wanted you to buy one of the pups she had at the time! But all and all, SHE LIED! So love you boy as you are now and pretend you never even knew the breeder had another litter! |
yeah, he is quite a doll. i can see how you would love him so much :) I dont think you will have regrets down the road. everything happens for a reason...just remember that. there is a reason you didn't get one of those yorkies and got this maltese instead. who knows why...but there is a reason. sounds like you really love him and he really loves you. now...with that being said...I'll take him if you change your mind LOL |

BENTLEY IS ADORABLE!!!! i think in life there are always things we all want, just like how you really wanted another yorkie like hannah ... but even though a new puppy came from the same parents, she/he may not be like hannah. you love bentley and yes you amy always want another yorkie but you can go on without another one ... you coudln't go on without bentley right? its so wonderful how much you love all your animals! |
I only have two Yorkies, and could afford more but I would have think about how much more difficult it would be to take them places. Right now Zada and Azrael go everywhere with me, except to Dr. dentist, Wal-Mart and such. I put them in the bike basket and off we go, I take them for daily walks, weather permitting, they go to play-dates, travel with us and on and on. If I had more than two, it just wouldn't work very well and I would have to leave them home more often I suppose. Soooooo..........just think about things very carefully before considering a fifth dog. Bentley is a beautiful boy and your so lucky you have him. So very many people are still looking for a baby like him and some can't even afford even one dog. Count the blessings that you already have. ;) |
Thanks to all of you, you have made me feel much better and helped me put things into perspective...Thanks...:yorkietal :ghug: |
Oh Genie, I am so sorry about this! I wish I would have known she told you this, because she e-mailed me on 4/15 and told me that she had new puppies born that were from Hannah's mom and dad. And I had been wondering why you decided on a Maltese because I knew that you had wanted another Yorkie from Lona. She did mention to me that she would no longer be breeding as she did want to do some traveling and also because she just couldn't compete with breeders who were only in it "for profit" - also she said that her puppies are not quite as small and everyone is after the "pocket sized" pups now  I can TOTALLY understand how upset you must have been though girl. Hannah is just gorgeous but Bentley is precious as well and as some of the others have said, everything happens for a reason :) |
Genie, Bentley is a dollbaby, I think you will be happy with your decision in time...but when you move you can get more yorkies, I know you wanted one from Hannah's parents, but you never know she could have more litters, she said she wasn't going to have anymore then did, so she probably will....And if you get tried of Bentley send him down to me....:D |
I am sooo sorry that you are dealing w/ this.....I would say, go ahead and get another one....IF you have time of it, IF you can afford it, IF you are sure you really need it, etc. Bently is a total cutie pie!! I would take him in a heartbeat, but he is already attached to you and your family and your other pets.....imagine what you all would go thru if he wasn't there! Definitely keep him ---- that's a given for sure! Then, sit down and have a meeting and heart to heart w/ your family to decide if another Yorkie is right for you at this time! Good luck! |

4 Attachment(s) Thanks everyone....I feel alot better about everything. I do love Bentley and I think it was meant for me to have him. He is so happy here and he and Hannah love each other now (most of the time). He always has a smile on his face no matter what and I wonder if I had not got him if he would have been this happy. Here is some new pics. |
